Customers say: True professional

"Robert was simply amazing. I really canâ t say enough good things about his professionalism, speed or results. Our water heater busted and 5 days without hot water as a paramedic during covid, was difficult. We also have a young child. We were getting desperate. Robert was prompt in response he got back to me so quickly. He was at my house within an hour after we spoke and we had hot water 3 hours later! His price was affordable for us as money is very tight. He even texted me, knowing I had to manage all this while on shift, with a picture of the finished product. I can not say Thankyou enough for being able to come home the next morning to a hot shower and functioning washing machine. He will be the first person I recommend to friends, family, coworkers and random strangers. Again THANK YOU."

"I hired Cloud 9 to remove my tub and install a walk in shower. From the initial meeting with Jeff, planning the project, to the actual install by "the 2 Rons", this company was knowledgeable, professional, friendly, and helpful in providing me with options to meet my personal needs. I would not hesitate to recommend this company!! Their customer service was on a level you rarely see anymore!"

Affordable Plumbers questions, answered by experts

If you've discovered a rather frightening buildup of brown and black gunk below your shower cover, you're not alone. The smelly sludge is often a collection of mildew and biofilm. Biofilm comes from the breakdown of soap scum, hair, skin cells, and bacteria that collects during shower time. It's quite common in a humid space and relatively easy to clean with a gentle DIY cleaning solution such as baking soda and vinegar.

While you can put Drano in a sink with standing water, most plumbers don’t recommend doing so. It usually doesn’t help to clear the clog, and you’ll end up with a sink full of standing water plus a toxic chemical—which is very unpleasant to deal with and best handled by a professional.

Yes, you can fix pipe threads. In fact, the process is the same as cutting new ones. You’ll need to use a pipe threader tool with the proper size die head for the pipe. Turning the threader over the damaged threads will clean up any damaged or worn-out threads in the pipe. If the pipe threads are too damaged, this process may not work, and you’ll need to replace the pipe.

Yes, shower water goes into the septic tank. Shower water is a type of greywater, and in fact, all water used in a home with a septic system—including water from sinks, toilets, the dishwasher, and the washing machine—drains into the tank. When shower water enters the tank, debris like soap and hair travels with it. The solid debris sinks to the bottom to become sludge, while soap residue joins the scum layer at the top. The remaining water is treated in the tank before moving to the drain field for further treatment and dispersal. It is important to avoid putting oil or harsh chemicals down any drain, as they can cause clogs or disrupt the beneficial bacteria required for proper wastewater management in the septic system.

Fix your leaking shower ASAP. By the time you realize your shower is leaking, chances are it’s been leaking for a while. Consider how often you use the shower to determine how much water has passed through the leak. Because shower leaks don’t fix themselves or get better with time, leaving them unchecked can lead to more damage and higher repair expenses. Use temporary fixes, but you should aim to have a professional repair your shower immediately.
