"I put in my request through HomeAdvisor and David from D&M contacted me within a few minutes. We set up a time to look at the project for the next day. He gave me a good price and told me he would get the job done the following Tuesday or Wednesday depending on the weather. Wednesday morning as I was drinking my morning coffee I thought to myself, "I wonder if I'll have my gutters today?" Looked out the window and realized they were already up! He had done them Tuesday and the instillation was so well done I hadn't even noticed! We have been through some rain and some snow and they are doing just what I needed them to do. D&M was a pleasure to work with."

"Frank and Nick did an excellent job replacing a window, installing snow guards, and completed roof repairs to make the house weathertight for me. They showed up when they said, worked very efficiently and got everything done quickly. Pricing is very fair and quality workmanship. I have used F.B.I. a couple times now and know I will use them for future projects."

"I got 4 quotes for a roof replacement and ultimately chose Southers Construction for the customer service and reasonable price. During the free estimate, Ricky was the only one to take out a ladder and climb on to the roof to take a look at everything and determine what needed to be done as part of the project. He was very knowledgeable and explained to me what they would fix, how, and why. He also gave me pricing options for some of the additional things I wanted done as part of the overall roof replacement (better airflow using soffits vs roof vents). The team did a great job, I'm very pleased with their work and they did it in one day. They draped the house / bushes to protect them while they worked. They also cleaned up the yard / driveway after they were finished. I didn't find one nail after they were done. I will definitely be calling them back for other projects and highly recommend them."

Gutter Repair and Replacement questions, answered by experts

Costs depend on gutter length, damage severity, and labor rates.

The average cost to install or replace gutters is around $2,000, with typical project costs ranging from $900 to $7,000. Most companies charge between $4 and $30 per linear foot. The total price depends on several factors, including the size of your home, the complexity of its footprint, the gutter material (e.g., vinyl, metal), and the gutter style (e.g., half-round, custom-built). Additional elements like downspouts, corners, and optional add-ons like gutter guards can also increase the price. The condition of your roof is another consideration, as new gutters cannot be installed on a rotting or sloping roof. While it can be an expensive upfront cost, new gutters are a worthwhile, long-lasting investment for protecting your home's exterior. You can save up to half on labor costs by installing them yourself.

Leaks, corrosion, sagging sections, and loose fasteners are common problems that need fixing.

Downspouts channel water from your roof and gutters into the ground following a specific route so water doesn’t accumulate around your house’s foundation. Without a downspout, the standing water will wash away material and disrupt the soil, leading to foundation erosion. The standing water will also form ice around your house during cold weather, causing a safety hazard.

Most homes will sustain water damage without gutters. When a home doesn't have gutters, water that runs off the roof will splash down to the ground to create foundation damage, rotting trim, rotting fascia, and soil erosion. A broken or compromised gutter system can be just as damaging as having no gutters. That's why it's essential to talk to roofing pros about how to fix gutters pulling away from house as soon as you notice an issue.
