"I put in my request through HomeAdvisor and David from D&M contacted me within a few minutes. We set up a time to look at the project for the next day. He gave me a good price and told me he would get the job done the following Tuesday or Wednesday depending on the weather. Wednesday morning as I was drinking my morning coffee I thought to myself, "I wonder if I'll have my gutters today?" Looked out the window and realized they were already up! He had done them Tuesday and the instillation was so well done I hadn't even noticed! We have been through some rain and some snow and they are doing just what I needed them to do. D&M was a pleasure to work with."

Gutter Repair and Replacement questions, answered by experts

Most homes will sustain water damage without gutters. When a home doesn't have gutters, water that runs off the roof will splash down to the ground to create foundation damage, rotting trim, rotting fascia, and soil erosion. A broken or compromised gutter system can be just as damaging as having no gutters. That's why it's essential to talk to roofing pros about how to fix gutters pulling away from house as soon as you notice an issue.

Buried downspouts can freeze during cold weather as cold water runs through them. If you’ve discovered your downspouts are frozen, you can carefully pour hot water down the top of the downspout to defrost them. If that doesn’t work, you may need to dig your downspout back up. Avoid trying to break the ice from the exterior using a hammer as this can cause cracks and damage to your downspout.

To avoid freezing the future, consider adding a heating cable to the exterior, which can adjust heat based on the surrounding temperature.

Gutters should not drip at the seams. This problem could indicate that water is collecting in the gutters instead of moving to the downspouts. You could have leaves or other debris blocking the flow of water at the seams. Try cleaning the gutters, adjusting the slope, and sealing any holes or cracks in the material to fix this problem.

DIY is possible for minor leaks or realignments. Professional services handle complex issues like sagging or joint repairs.

Minor repairs like sealing small leaks or cleaning debris are DIY-friendly, but professional repairs ensure long-term stability and proper drainage.
