"We are so excited about our new patio area. It is beautiful! The M&L crew did a fantastic job, they were all so friendly, professional. Leo was very informative as to what was being done and did exactly what we requested and little beyond. We are going to really enjoy our new patio! We would recommend them to anybody."

Customers say: Quick response

"I cannot recommend this landscaper any more highly. From start to finish, very professional. Left area clean after every work day. I have a beautiful patio now where my ugly wooden deck was. Beautiful pavers, granite stairs. He has all the equipment and contacts to get the job done. Nick is a hard worker and very picky regarding detail. You won’t be disappointed. I had to wait a bit, but well worth it. Will use again for my 2 front walkways."

"My wife and I hired Chris to complete a patio install with a square fire pit in the middle. After choosing a design and different pavers from different manufacturers Chris was able to obtain all the needed materials and did a fantastic job."

"John Welch did a great job installing pervious pavers in driveway as required by local planning board. John took care of all aspects of driveway improvement including obtaining proper permits along with accompanying me at the planning board meeting for approval of the driveway project. John also has a very friendly and hard working crew. Highly recommend JW Landscape"

Small jobs welcome

"We could not be happier with the work Peter and Dave did replace our deck. They worked with us every step of the way, offering suggestions as we made tweaks and minor changes in the layout, and Peter was very willing to fit in a couple of add-on projects for us as well. The work site was cleaned up daily leaving the yard spotless. We would definitely recommend Peter to anyone looking for prompt work, attention to detail, and at a very competitive price. We are already talking about having them come back for a smaller project. Thanks, Peter and Dave!"

Patios questions, answered by experts

Several types of porches are available to meet your needs and style preferences. Some common porch types include:

  • Porticos are essentially a roof over a walkway leading to the home's front entrance.

  • Sunrooms are closed-in porches that are an extension of the house with glass or plastic panels that allow optimal sunlight.

  • Wraparound porches extend around the entire home, or at least the front and one side, and offer multiple entrances to the house.

  • Back porches are an extension of the home’s floor into the outdoors. These offer more protection and privacy than a deck.

A sunroom will add more value to your home than a deck, but with a much higher up-front cost. Depending on its construction and function, a sunroom may be counted as additional living space, while a deck is strictly an outdoor feature. Both will increase your home’s value, but the sunroom will have a much bigger effect.

An enclosed porch can be considered a living space if it meets certain criteria. For instance, it must be completely enclosed with solid walls and a roof. It should also have a heating and cooling source similar to the rest of the home. Finally, the porch should have direct access to and from the interior of your house.

Building a sunroom can take anywhere from two weeks to six months. An average-sized sunroom typically takes between two and eight weeks to complete, but more elaborate or larger projects can take longer. The final timeline depends on factors such as the sunroom's size, features, structural requirements, type, and whether it's a retrofit or a new build from scratch.

Yes, a sunroom will require a permit. You may just need a general construction permit for a screened-in porch or solarium. For a three-season room with electricity and a four-season room with electric, heating, and cooling, you’ll need additional permits for each of the utilities, as well as a roofing permit.
