"Karen showed up right on time, metaphorically rolled up her sleeves, and went to work on a house that has, in addition to some humans, two cats and a Collie. Shedding machines, basically. Hair, dust, dander, mildew, cat litter in places it had no business being, Karen handled it with aplomb and good humor. Her attention to detail is amazing. Nothing gets by her. She says what she does and she does what she says. Not only that, but she's fun to be around. She's able to be a raconteur whilst at the same time destroying the stains on your grout with a toothbrush. She spent nine hours getting my house, not just back to baseline clean, but to "I just moved in" clean. No stone was unturned, no dust bunny un-vacuumed, no surface undusted. I can't say enough how great her work is."

Sonic Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Tile roofs, including clay, concrete, and slate, are considered low-maintenance materials that require fewer repairs and less care than many other roofing options.

  • Clay tiles require minimal maintenance. They stand up well to the elements and UV radiation, repel water, and do not easily stain, discolor, or fade in direct sunlight. Clay tiles do not need sealing. Maintenance is typically only required to replace cracked tiles, which can be caused by foot traffic, extreme weather, or fallen tree limbs.

  • Concrete tiles are also low-maintenance but require more upkeep than clay. They need to be sealed every few years to maintain water resistance, and their color tends to fade more quickly than clay.

Aside from these material-specific needs, general maintenance for tile roofs includes annual inspections, routine gutter cleaning, and addressing repairs as they arise. A well-maintained tile roof can provide 50 to 100 years or more of protection for your home.

Inspect for cracks, clean debris regularly, and replace damaged tiles promptly to maintain performance.

The cost of removing snow from a roof averages between $300 and $700. However, this cost can range from $200 to $3,000, depending on the size of your roof, the amount of snow, and roof accessibility.

Since snowfall can range from light powder to heavy and condensed snow, part of the price of roof snow removal depends on the amount and type of snow. For 12 inches of snow, you can expect to pay between $200 and $2,000 for this job. However, for 24 inches of snow, that price rises to $300 to $3,000.

Roof cleaning is typically necessary annually, although homes in moist or heavily polluted areas may require more frequent service to prevent buildup.

No, you should not pressure wash or power wash roof shingles, including asphalt shingles. The high water pressure from these machines is too strong and can damage the shingles by forcing water underneath, loosening their adhesive, and causing them to fall off. A safer and better alternative is soft washing with a pump sprayer. To ensure the job is done safely without causing damage, it is best to hire a local roof cleaner.
