Worse than the delay was the complete lack of communication throughout the process ? getting updates or even basic responses was frustratingly difficult. The biggest issue, however, was the quality of the work. Their installation was poorly executed, and we ended up having to hire another company to fix their mistake ? costing us even more money on top of what we already paid Groundworks. Cost and age are two factors to consider when determining if you should repair or replace your concrete driveway. If your existing driveway is on the older side and the cost of repairs is 50% or more of its value, it might be worth replacing it. A layer of exposed aggregate concrete should be 1 to 2 inches thick if you’re installing it on top of existing concrete. If you’re pouring a new slab with the finish, slab thickness will depend on the application. Exposed aggregate concrete driveways should be 4 to 6 inches thick in most cases or 8 to 12 inches for commercial vehicles. Sidewalks, patios, and walkways should be 4 inches thick.

In general, you can expect concrete to last 30 to 50 years. However, the type of concrete, site prep, and climate all affect how long concrete lasts. The proper removal of rocks and tree roots before installation can prevent cracks later on. While concrete takes little maintenance, repairing small cracks as they appear can also extend the life of the concrete.
