"Epp retaining wall repair came out to do the repair work that costs $5,000. They did work first part of December and I smelled bad chemical smell. I commented to the workman about it. The smell lingered in the air in my house so that I had to go to ER on Christmas day. I had Harleys Heating and Air measure the air quality and the chemical pollution was over double what it should be. I called Epp and they wouldn't do anything. I had the vents cleaned and the owner commented how strong the epoxy smell was. Then I had hepa filters put on the whole furnace. So after spending $4,000 on trying to solve the situation it is getting better. I will never us Epp again for anything."

Main water shut-off valves last 10 to 20 years on average, though they can sometimes last longer. This depends in part on the material you choose. Brass valves are very durable, but more expensive bronze or stainless steel valves may last even longer. Main water shut-off valves often fail due to aging internal parts, such as rubber washers. However, corrosion and sediment buildup also contribute to valve failure. If purchasing a home at least 10 years old, you may want to replace the main water shut-off valve soon to avoid potential problems.

Pedestal sinks are bolted or screwed into the floor and the wall to prevent it from moving out of place. You may have to change or add to the bathroom flooring when installing a pedestal sink if the flooring was laid around the previous sink, not under it.

When learning how to design a plumbing system for a house, it's helpful to know that ABS pipes have fallen out of favor because they are less safe and efficient compared to alternatives. ABS pipes are made from a chemical called bisphenol (BPA) that may cause neurological and hormonal effects. Due to the fact that it has a lower melting point, ABS can also be flammable in high-temperature situations. Finally, ABS is prone to warping caused by heat and UV exposure. It can also fracture in frozen conditions.

If your bathtub won’t drain, it’s usually due to a clog. You can try to remove any visible debris by hand. For debris stuck in the trap below the drain, a drain snake is your best bet. Keep in mind that chemical drain cleaners can be very effective for hair clogs, but they’re corrosive and can damage your pipes. Use with caution. 

You’ll need two sizes of pipe to plumb a bathroom. You’ll use a 1/2-inch pressure pipe for your supply lines that run from the fixture to the larger 3/4-inch supply lines that run through the house. For drain lines, you’ll need a 3-inch PVC pipe for your toilet, a 2-inch PVC pipe for stand-alone showers, and a 1 1/2-inch pipe for a shower/tub combo and the bathroom sink. Each fixture’s drain will run to the 3-inch main drain that runs through the house.
