"Beyond expectations! Hired Charles for Master Bath remodel and it was so well done with beautiful and artistic flair that we kept him on to do another upstairs full bath and our powder room. Each bathroom is totally different and all of them are contemporary and worthy of anyone's attention. In the master bath, Charles put in extra details like marble surrounds to the shower niches and a shower window plus a rich marble belt line to add extra eye catching flair. He also took care of all other details like the incredible floor, installing the new cabinets and the demo beforehand. Will hire him again (this was the 2nd time)"

"Lazara was simply amazing. She knew exactly what she was doing and what she needed to do. From taking out the dust in every corner from the house, all the way to moving out the furniture and making sure she left everything spotless, shiny and clean. I would definitely use her again and again, I?ve already hired her services in 3 occasions and each one was simply better than the last one. 1??"

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

Berber is a loop pile carpet known for its strength, durability, and distinct looped look. It can be made from a number of different carpet materials, including nylon and wool. However, Berber isn’t as soft as cut pile carpet, so it isn’t the best carpet for a bedroom (although it’s a good style of carpet for living rooms).

With that said, if you really like the look of Berber, you can still install it in your bedroom—it just might not be as comfortable on your feet as cut pile carpeting.

Yes, you can negotiate the purchase price of new carpet. You may also be able to negotiate installation costs or other fees in addition to the per-foot pricing of the carpet itself. You may have better luck negotiating with an independent retailer (as opposed to a big-box store), as they may have more discretion in pricing, but it’s always worth asking.

The life span of carpet in a home with children and animals depends on factors like the carpet material’s quality, how frequently you clean and maintain it, and the level of foot traffic. On average, carpets need to be replaced every five to 15 years. Signs of wear, matting, or persistent odors may indicate that it's time to contact a local flooring company to replace your carpet.

Several types of flooring can be installed over existing tile, provided the current tiles are in good condition. Options include vinyl, vinyl plank, laminate, engineered wood, hardwood, carpet, and cork. Among these, various types of vinyl and engineered wood are the most common choices due to their versatility. Alternatively, you can install new tiles on top of your current ones if you like tile floors but want to update the look. Before proceeding with any new flooring, it's crucial to ensure your existing tiles are not damaged; otherwise, they will need to be removed first.

When deciding whether to repair or replace your carpet, consider its age, the extent of the damage, and its location. It's often best to replace the entire carpet if the damage is extensive, such as large sections needing replacement, or if it's caused by water, which can lead to mold problems. Similarly, if your carpet is nearing a decade old, replacement is likely the more logical choice. On the other hand, consider repairing your carpet if the damage is localized to one spot, like minor rips or snags, the carpet is still relatively new, or the damage is in a low-traffic area of your home.
