"Although the rep from Sears was unable to provde the service we requested, i.e. move our heat pump, he was prompt in responding to our request, knowledgeable of what was required, and arrived at our home on time for the estimate."

"They had a special deal and I used them with that. I thought that it was fine and that the price was good. I didn't like that they right away proposed that my furnace needed $1000 worth of cleaning. I have had other people out and felt that it was a bit of a hustle. I have a maintenance contract and I am aware of the some of the problems it has, but I thought that walking in and immediately suggesting the cleaning was unpleasant. They were good with what they did."

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

The average cost to replace or install a new HVAC system is around $7,500. However, the price can range from $5,000 to $12,500, depending on factors like the size of your home, the type and brand of the unit, and your specific heating and cooling needs. If you only need to replace certain components, the cost will be lower; for example, a new AC unit can cost between $2,200 and $5,500, while a new furnace costs $3,200 to $6,000. If additional work like new ductwork is required, the total cost could be as high as $22,000. It's best to contact a local HVAC company for an accurate quote.

You can replace baseboard heaters with many other types of HVAC systems, including forced-air furnaces, hydronic heating, and heat pumps. Each one has its advantages and disadvantages, so the best choice for you will depend on your budget, preferences, and the design of your house. If you aren’t sure which option is right for you, ask an HVAC pro for guidance.

The cost-efficiency of baseboard heaters depends on the type and how you use them. Generally, standard electric baseboard heaters can be expensive to run because they use electric resistance heating, which is less energy-efficient than systems like forced-air or heat pumps. However, hydronic and gas versions are typically much cheaper to operate. Hydronic models are more energy-efficient because they heat a liquid that retains warmth longer, preventing the thermostat from turning on and off as often. The overall running cost is also influenced by local electricity rates, your home's insulation, and your usage habits. To increase efficiency, you can use baseboard heaters for zoning, meaning you only heat the specific rooms you are using.

Most installations take 2-5 days, including old system removal and setup.

Most propane boilers last 15 to 20 years with regular maintenance and proper care. The lifespan depends on the quality of the unit, proper installation, and the level of maintenance. Investing in annual service can maximize longevity and efficiency. Routine inspections and timely repairs prevent early breakdown, ensuring your boiler heats your home for years to come.
