"Don't waste your time looking anywhere else. This is your guy. I am a perfectionist and I expect people to take pride in their work. Robert and his team went above and beyond my expectations. Although, I know I drove them crazy because I am a perfectionist too, they did an excellent job and always make sure the customer is happy. They look at the minor details that many landscapers forget to look at. They use great quality products and will make sure you are happy with how your landscape functions and looks. It's your money , your house, and your landscaping, and your investment, if you are going to do it right, hire these guys."

"From the start Mike was very professional and pleasant when he came to give us an estimate for painting the outside soffit around the whole house outside, porch railings, pickets and stairs. When we decided to have him do the job, as his price was reasonable for the work wanted, we called and he stated he would send a contract and have the work done by 10-30-14, which was 2 weeks away and would take 1 1/2 days to complete. He called on 10-21-14 and stated he would be at the house on 10-23-14. All the work was done and it looks terrific. There was no mess to clean up, they did it all.  We are very happy with his work and would highly recommend him and have him do any future painting needed at our home.

"Julian and his crew were very nice and easy going, however I was not happy with the way they conducted the job as they were extremely messy and careless with debris, dirt, and actually damaged some small places on the new floor in their haste. Shortcuts were taken on the thresholds and the wood originally used there did not even match the flooring and wasn't finished out with nail holes puttied. The stair nose piece didn't fit at the top of my stairs and left about an inch gap of thin air underneath that my handyman later had to fill with wood moulding. Additionally, during the project, the price increased by about $3000 from the original estimate which brought it up to where the next higher bid had come in. As for the deck board replacement, I am currently paying someone else to redo at least 2 of the boards Julian just replaced in March/April because one was cut about an inch too short and one's screw did not make it into the deck so it has popped loose and the board warped in the heat. A few weeks later, I found that the rotten boards they replaced had been tossed over the retaining wall in my back yard and just left there. This was not visible from the deck or I would've said something immediately. The subfloor piece was also cut a couple of inches or more too short for the space but he used it anyway. The caulking that was done after both of the floor jobs was very messy. I am a single woman and live in a historic home that I take pride in and try my best to get competent professional people to do what I need done."

Gazebos questions, answered by experts

Clean regularly, seal wood surfaces, and inspect for damage or rust to ensure longevity and safety.

For many people, a gazebo is worth it, but it’s a matter of personal preference. If you love spending time outside but your yard doesn’t offer much protection from the sun or rain, then adding a gazebo might be worthwhile. Or, if you enjoy hosting dinner parties and want a nice outdoor space to gather with your friends, a gazebo could be a good investment.

Fascia and soffits differ in their location and design, but fascia vents are the most popular alternative to soffits. These are a bit more hidden than soffits, but depending on the structure of your roof, they can cost more to install and maintain. They are also installed around the entire roof, whereas soffits can be placed only where you need them or, if the aesthetics bother you, somewhere out of sight.

Using concrete footers is the best way to secure a gazebo on a deck without drilling. The weight of the footers is more likely to hold your gazebo in place than other methods. You can also pour concrete into flower pots to create an aesthetically pleasing concrete footer or use concrete columns to make a statement.

Several types of porches are available to meet your needs and style preferences. Some common porch types include:

  • Porticos are essentially a roof over a walkway leading to the home's front entrance.

  • Sunrooms are closed-in porches that are an extension of the house with glass or plastic panels that allow optimal sunlight.

  • Wraparound porches extend around the entire home, or at least the front and one side, and offer multiple entrances to the house.

  • Back porches are an extension of the home’s floor into the outdoors. These offer more protection and privacy than a deck.
