"Needed a solution for a room above a garage that was hotter than the rest of the upstairs. It was recommended to add insulation to the garage ceiling, air seal the attic, and add additional insulation to the attic. Since then, the room above the garage has been the same temperature as the downstairs. Great work and wonderful solution. Price point came in on average $1000 less than most quotes we received."

"Called Flood Medics to repair water damage behind hot water heater & bathroom.. David came & explained step by step on what the process was.. Kevin & Leander came promptly and worked diligently with covering up house items while they cleaned up & removed the wet walls? All 3 of these gentlemen were very professional, kind and courteous. Would highly recommend this company to anyone?"

Small jobs welcome

"Jeff was awesome to work with on my garage insulation instal. Excellent communication throughout the project and very reasonable cost. Him and his team also went above and beyond by insulating the hatch to the attic to provide additional protection. Would definitely recommend and use his services in the future. Thanks!"

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

Very little. One inch of water can stain walls, warp wood, and create a perfect environment for mold growth. One to two inches of water can do significant damage to drywall, insulation, and electrical systems. Anything over that is considered an extensive flood, often resulting in severe structural damage.

Installing or repairing plaster on ceilings differs slightly from performing the same motions on a wall. You’ll apply slightly less plaster to lower the overall weight of the ceiling. Wall texturing is common, whereas most ceilings are smooth plaster. Tough coat plaster is strong, meaning you can use less while retaining a solid surface.

Plastering and skimming are two different techniques for finishing walls. Plastering involves applying a thick layer of a plaster mixture—typically containing gypsum, lime, cement, sand, and water—to create a new surface. This process often requires multiple coats and is used for repairing significant damage or creating decorative textures. Skimming, on the other hand, is a technique that involves applying a thin layer of drywall compound or joint compound over an existing surface to smooth it out, covering minor imperfections, small cracks, or uneven textures for a polished look. Plastering is generally more costly and labor-intensive than skimming. Although some people use the terms interchangeably, they refer to different processes and materials.

If your home’s foundation shifts slightly over time, any seams in the drywall represent the weakest point in the wall, leading to cracks. If your home has significant changes in temperature and humidity, this can cause the drywall to swell and contract slightly, causing a crack at the weak point of the seam. If your drywall installer did a poor job securing the panels to the wall studs, this could cause a weak layout and cracks in the seams.

Yes, if there is mold in your drywall mud and you then use it to build walls in your house—or if mold develops in your set drywall, like it can in hot and humid areas—it can lead to illness. Mold in your drywall (or other parts of your home) can make existing respiratory conditions or allergies worse, and the effect can be more intense for those who have existing health issues or compromised immune systems.
