"requested an in-person quote for job. they said they had a drone site review and new what to do. so it seemed like a bait and switch for the quote. they only addressed part of the job and then added extra charge for crack filling. however I am satisfied but would have liked the whole job done as requested."

"Wow! Driveway repair and extension started yesterday and finished today. Misael and his crew were hardworking and very professional! I would love to upload pictures but this site is telling me my pictures are too large. You can find them on Facebook at RMZ Concrete LLC. I highly recommend him for concrete work!"

"Garrett came out promptly, walked me through the steps. He is a consummate professional. Made recommendations and listened attentively to what I wanted for the drive and patio. He cleared extra debris and more. The staff was professional but friendly. They cleaned up to my satisfaction and that'Â Â s not always easy. I appreciated the care they took of my property and they exceeded my expectations on every level. You need not shop elsewhere. Brock and Co., is who you want for quality affordable work/craftsmanship. I give them 10 stars. Thanks for a fine job! Very Happy Customer, Ms. Washington."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can retrofit an existing driveway, but this usually involves cutting grooves into the driveway, installing the heating elements, then sealing them. While this is much less expensive than typical heated driveway systems, the final appearance could be diminished. Speak with a driveway paving company to confirm which design method is best for you.

Regular sealing, crack filling, and professional inspections help extend pavement lifespan and prevent costly repairs.

The dimensions of a driveway apron vary based on local building codes, the width of your driveway, and the distance between the driveway and the road. On average, aprons range from 12 to 24 feet wide and 8 to 18 feet long. Typically, the end of the apron connected to the driveway matches its width—such as 10 to 12 feet for a single-car driveway—while the end at the street flares out to allow cars to turn in and out more easily. In some areas, you may not be responsible for the portion of the apron that extends beyond the sidewalk, but this depends on local laws.

This creates a risk for your driveway to fail after asphalt curing because it doesn't have a lasting bond with the surface. In order to get asphalt to perform as intended, it's necessary to prepare the dirt surface correctly first. The loose soil base under the new driveway must be compacted until it is stable enough to support the weight of the asphalt.

New asphalt typically needs 24 to 72 hours to dry before it can handle light foot traffic and careful driving. Although it may appear solid after a few days, the full curing process, where the asphalt reaches its peak strength, takes much longer—generally from 30 days to a year.

During this extended curing time, the surface remains relatively soft and can be damaged by heavy vehicles, sharp objects, or high temperatures. To protect your investment, it's best to avoid parking heavy machinery on the asphalt until it has fully cured.

The exact time required for drying and curing depends on several factors, including the weather, the specific asphalt mix, and its thickness. For the most accurate advice tailored to your situation, consult with your asphalt contractor.
