"Jim with North Alabama Technical Services removed some items from my computer so that I could send emails and attend to items I needed to address that day. As planned, the next day he thoroughly cleaned my computer, he also made helpful suggestions while working on my computer. I would call him again if needed and I thought the fee was reasonable."
"Mike and Crystal were very professional from the first phone contact through the completion of the work. They showed up on time, their work was neat and they worked very efficiently. My windows were in pretty bad shape. They really took their time and prepped them very well which showed in the finished product. When asked to redo or touch up anything it was done without question. In the end we received a very good paint job on a timely basis and at a competitive price. I have already recommended Mike's Painting to others in my neighborhood and would use him again for future painting needs. "
"We had damage from Hurricane Isaias. Kent was very prompt in providing estimates and helping us work through the insurance process. He has provided all the documentation the insurance company requested. Work started promptly after our acceptance of the estimates. The work was high quality. It included replacing hardi-board siding, painting, drywall, doors, windows, mold remediation and general carpentry . He provided the right craftsman for the job. The work was completed in a timely fashion."
"We initially called Mr Hargrove in August for an estimate on painting of the exterior trim, gutters, and around windows and doors, etc. on our two story brick house. We were very impressed with his punctual call return and his punctual arrival for an estimate. We needed the house pressure washed and scraped all around as the house had been neglected by the previous owners and needed serious work. We liked his plan and his estimate and we decided on the spot to hire him and his company as there were many other things that were also going to be needed and we thought "this was our guy for anything that we need" His crew showed up on the date and time specified and went to work immediately washing and scraping the exterior of the house. They also had to remove all the storm windows for proper scraping and painting. It was pretty hot, but his guys showed up every day and did a fantastic job. We were and still are VERY impressed with the job they did and would hire them again in a minute! During one particular nasty rain storm we noticed a serious leak in a couple of rooms and told James about it and he went right up on the roof and found where it had leaked and within the next few days, he had put on a new roof on that part of the house and it has not leaked since! And the new shutters they installed look great!! We have also had two of our neighbors stop by commenting on how good our house looks and wanted to know who did it and we happily gave them his number! We are new to this area and we feel very fortunate to have found James Hargrove and his home improvement company and definitely plan on using them again!! "

Yes, including the frame instead of just referring to the glass opening for window dimensions is the standard. However, some manufacturers may refer to the rough opening instead of the framed opening when listing sizes. Always confirm which measurement a manufacturer is using before ordering windows.
Replacing basement windows can be worth the cost if replacement is necessary. If your windows are leaking and leading to water damage in your basement, it’s absolutely worth replacing them. Similarly, if your basement windows are no longer insulating your basement or pose a security risk, you need to replace them.
In some cases, you may be able to save money by repairing a window instead of replacing it. A contractor can help you decide the right course of action.
Windows last between 15 and 30 years on average. The glass tends to last for around 20 years, while the frames last up to 50 years. This varies by the type of window frame material, glass quality, location, and level of maintenance. Wood frames have the shortest lifespan and require repainting or resealing every couple of years, while fiberglass has one of the longest lifespans.
Because egress windows are meant for emergency exiting and entering, they need to be an accessible size. The smallest an egress window is allowed to be is 15 inches in width and height, with an opening of around 4 square feet.
Yes, home appraisers look at your windows when appraising your property to determine the market value of your home. They’ll factor in the type of windows, quality, condition, whether or not there are screens covering the windows, frame materials, size, insulation, and more to come up with an unbiased property assessment.
