"We are extremely happy with how our new windows and new front door turned out. After some unexpected challenges with the way our home was built, our installation crew quickly and efficiently adapted to make sure our windows and door were installed with expert care. "Jeremy was awesome! I came from out of town to do some upgrades on my parents bathroom and ran into some electrical issues. He was on time, came in and got right to business. Very professional and even went the extra mile to fix some minor safety issues. He worked until he was able to pinpoint issue which was so minor we all just laughed. Thank you, Jeremy!! Awesome job!!"

Windows questions, answered by experts

The average cost to repair a window is about $400, with prices typically ranging from $175 to $1,500. The final cost is influenced by several factors, including:

  • Number of Panes: Single-pane repairs average around $200, double-pane repairs range from $200 to $400, and triple-pane repairs can cost $600 to $1,100.

  • Type of Repair: Minor fixes for a track, seal, or sash are more affordable than repairs for broken glass or window frames, which are typically the most expensive.

  • Window Details: The size, type, and material of the window affect the price.

  • Accessibility: Windows on upper floors or in hard-to-reach locations may increase labor costs.

  • Other Factors: The extent of the damage, local labor rates, and the need for emergency service will also impact the total cost.

For comparison, a full window replacement can range from $175 to $1,800 or more for high-end materials or large windows like bay or bow windows.

Yes, you can install a bay window in an existing house. You’ll need to have a structural engineer draw up plans to add the necessary support to your exterior load-bearing walls and a general contractor to make the changes to the framing around the new wall opening. This will cost an average of $3,000. After that work is done, a window installer can set the new bay window in place.

The primary benefits of an egress window include providing a safe emergency exit, increasing natural light in a space like a basement, and improving ventilation. Additionally, installing an egress window can often increase your property's value.

When comparing impact windows vs. hurricane shutters, it’s important to consider the protection and installation details to determine the right choice for you. For constant protection against storms and flying debris, impact windows are a better option than hurricane shutters, especially if you don’t want to install shutters that will change the look of your house. However, impact windows are more costly than hurricane shutters. If you want a budget-friendly option that’s still protective against storms, hurricane shutters are a solid option.

The key difference between a hung window and an awning window is that hung windows (including single-hung and double-hung versions) slide vertically to open and close. In contrast, awning windows have a hinge at the top and open outward at an angle. You can use both types of windows throughout your home, but awning windows are best suited for kitchens and bathrooms.
