"Almost all went well with James Tayler. The work was done quickly and they were thorough, and the exterior cleanup was terrific. The roof looks great.
Three issues; all addressed:  
1) I awarded JT the contract with the agreement that the skylights would be flashed, but those instructions did not make it to the workers.  They had installed "ice-guard" up to the skylights, which is fine, but they didn't run it up the curbs. Fortunately I was there to mention the contract and my concern and they immediately redid the skylights with flashing (but didn't change the already stuck-down ice-guard.) Two of the workers spoke enough English that we could communicate okay; my Spanish is quite limited!  JT warrants that work for 10 years; I'd have liked at least 15.  
2) The HVAC exhaust pipe pieces had separated some and there was a minor leak that I spotted from the attic on the first rain.  JT was back quickly to seal the leak within a couple days.  
3) To replace one piece of rotten board, one worker started cutting up additional pieces of my roof to get to it...but I stopped him and I cut out the rotten board from inside the attic instead.
One more note: I elected to have the ridge vent put in, but no one ? including me ? thought to take steps to prevent sawdust and scraps from filling the attic and covering items stored there.  It?s a bit of a mess.  I?m not sure I?d say yes to adding the ridge vent now; ...just stick with the old gable vent and fan.
All that said, I believe their work is likely superior to many others.  It was definitely better that what the original roofer did!  I would choose them again.

"I had them rewrite the estimate to make sure that all items I wanted were listed and spelled out with specifics. Their first estimate seemed a little generic to me, but I am a perfectionist so I had them rewrite it to my liking. They arrived on time, unloaded the supplies and went straight to work. Very hard workers and did an excellent job. The work took 2 days and I was there the whole time but never had to question anything they did. They did a great job replacing my skylights and then cleaned up everything when they were done including running a magnet over my yard to pickup any nails that were dropped from the roof. I would definitely use them again and I have already recommended them to others. I have not had any issues with the roof or skylights since they were installed.
