"I had a approximately 110 feet, 4 inch underground drain pipe totally plugged. I thought I would have to have a new trench dug (back hoe), new pipe installed, trench back filled, seeded and covered with straw - big $$$. Mike convinced me to let him give it a try with his hydra jet drain cleaner. So glad I did. He arrived on time and had the drain cleaned in less than an hour, no lawn damage, and at a very reasonable price. Very knowledgeable and professional. If you have a pipe drainage problem, Mike gets my highest recommendation."

"JT did a great job. He diagnosed the source of the leak, had the parts he needed to repair the toilet on his truck and completed the job within an hour. He was very personable and efficient. He was also very prepared to maintain social distancingand minimize any possibility of contracting and our spreading the virus in our household."

"Ty was wonderful. He returned my call within minutes and was able to come out that evening t deal with the immediate problem of the leak. He removed the wet drywall and cleaned up the damage, as well as the room he worked in. When he was finished for the night, the space was clean instead of covered in drywall dust. He arranged to come back to complete the repair a week later - the delay was in part to let the damaged area fully dry and in part my own schedule. He came back on the scheduled day, on time, and replaced my shower floor and completed the repair. It looks fantastic!
Ty is professional, polite, and a very nice guy. He does great work, is honest with his quotes, explains the problem, and was patient with my questions. His sub-contractors were also polite, professional, and did great work. I highly recommend Ty and will call him again if I ever need any help with plumbing.

"An unexpected surprise blockage of our kitchen sink drain could not be solved with my reasonable plumbing skills and a 25-foot snake. Through Home Advisor, I found Alex Datko to be available the same day. He and his helper Tim arrived ahead of schedule and solved our problem quickly with a motorized snake and excellent detective work to be sure that any potential associated problems from the house to the street were avoided, all with keeping a clean work area, having a friendly attitude, and most importantly, having a very reasonable price. My problem was solved and I remain impressed!"

Drain Cleaning questions, answered by experts

In some cases, operating a snake can damage your drain and pipes. This depends on the overall condition of your pipes and how gently you operate the auger. For instance, older galvanized pipes covered in zinc are susceptible to scratches when using a drain snake. Additionally, it’s common for newbies to apply too much force when extending the snake, leading to scratches and related damage. You can also crack the porcelain with an electric auger if you’re snaking a toilet drain. If you’re using a manual snake or auger, the risk is minimal.

It’s sometimes difficult to distinguish a clog from a frozen drainpipe since ice technically causes a clog. If the temperature doesn’t tip you off, there are a few additional signs that your pipe is frozen. Look for condensation and frost around the pipes. Ice in pipes can cause a banging or clanking noise as opposed to a clog from a softer material.

To keep window wells from filling up with water, you need to stay on top of maintenance. Remove debris as it fills up, and regularly loosen the gravel at the base if it’s become compacted. You can also reslope your yard to make sure water flows away from the window well (and your home’s foundation), and you can even install a window well cover to prevent debris from building up. Installing an actual drainpipe at the base of the well can also prevent window well drainage problems.

There are many things that could cause your basement floor drain to back up. One significant cause of a drainage backup is flushing non-flushable items, such as wipes, paper towels, and facial tissue. Other causes of a backed-up basement floor drain include tree roots impeding the drain pipe or an accumulation of hair, oil, and grease.

If you're dealing with a clogged sink drain, you may be able to avoid removing the drain by using a plunger to dislodge the clog. While we associate plungers with toilets, they can do the same job with your sink drain. Be gentle, though, as forceful movements can push clogs further into your plumbing system and make them more difficult to remove. Additionally, make sure you’re using a sink plunger—with a flat bottom—and not a toilet plunger—which has a smaller bottom protruding from the larger flat piece.
