Small jobs welcome

"I had used Angi to get quotes on getting my gutters cleaned. Immediately I was reached out to by several companies that were not interested in cleaning my gutters, but instead wanted to upsell me on gutter guards. I even had one setup a meeting at my home under the false pretense of giving me a quote, only to be a salesperson - again - wanting to sell me gutter guards. Dylan with Queen City Shine was different. He reach out to me quickly with a quote, communicated well and arrived on the scheduled day, and completed the work quickly. He was courteous and polite and a pleasure to work with. I will absolutely call them again in the future for gutter cleaning or other services that they provide. Thanks!"

"Beth, the Owner was very understanding and compassionate. As my needs for service had to be put off for a month due to having to wait until raccoons were trapped and removed. I thank the Owner for helping me through this crisis by her encouraging words and not charging for services. The cleaning was thorough and the Cap was put on timely The two young men were friendly and professional. A debt of gratitude to this company for sure?"

Gutter Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Gutters should be cleaned at least twice a year, in the spring and in the fall, to remove the debris from trees that can clog the eavestroughs and downspouts. Debris like leaves, twigs, and seed pods can build up and cause your gutters to overflow, potentially causing damage to your roof and foundation. Water backing up under the shingles can rot the edge of your roofline. Overflow water falling next to your foundation can end up leaking into your basement or crawl space.

Yes, it is okay to knock down icicles yourself. Just make sure to take the proper safety precautions. If you’re not comfortable doing it yourself, contact a roofing professional.

Downspouts channel water from your roof and gutters into the ground following a specific route so water doesn’t accumulate around your house’s foundation. Without a downspout, the standing water will wash away material and disrupt the soil, leading to foundation erosion. The standing water will also form ice around your house during cold weather, causing a safety hazard.

Whether or not you can use a pressure washer to clean your gutter guards depends on the type of gutter guard you have and the strength of the pressure washer. Most gutter guards can handle a low-pressure setting but check first. If you’re unsure if your gutter guard is designed for pressure washing, check your manufacturer’s instructions, ask a pro, or use a garden hose to clean the gutter guard instead. As gutter guards age, they become less resistant to the strong forces of a power washer, so treat older gutter guards with more care.

Yes, you can use a pressure washer to effectively clean debris, dirt, and grime from your gutters, but it must be done with caution to avoid damage. Always use a low-pressure setting, with a recommended range between 1,200 and 1,800 PSI. Excessive pressure can bend or dent aluminum gutters, damage seams, peel paint, or even knock shingles off your roof, potentially leading to leaks and moisture issues. For a safer alternative, consider soft washing or cleaning them by hand. When using a pressure washer, it is safer to use gutter elbow extensions from the ground rather than climbing a ladder, as the force can cause instability. Due to the risks, you may want to hire a licensed and insured contractor for the job.
