"He was professional and showed up and the repair on back deck is absolutely fantastic and he stained it. also, did my front porch and stained it and my garage door facing repaired and painted. He cleaned everything up neatly and I highly recommend him and his team. He also did the painting on my white railing front porch. Just an outstanding and reliable and trustworthy guy. "My husband and I had been looking for someone to complete a few maintenance repairs around our home (replacing shutters, fix trim along the rooftop, fix siding on the house, replace framework and seals around the garage door and install a ceiling fan). Jeremy Williams did a wonderful job completing all the repairs we needed done. He was very professional and friendly from the initial meeting to the completion of the home repairs. Thank you for all you did for us and we will definitely contact you for our future home repairs."

"We hired Jeremy to replace some rotten wood around 2 of our doors and a water damaged ceiling. Jeremy was great!! Very detail oriented, and thorough. His work is high quality and professionally done. Super nice guy. Not only did he repair the rotten wood, he was able to suggest the best way to make sure it doesn’t happen again. Both doors look awesome and the ceiling is perfect! He even put the Wainscoting back!!"

Deck Repair questions, answered by experts

No, termites do not eat Trex or any other composite decking brand. Termites eat cellulose, of which composite decking like Trex contains very little compared to natural wood. This feature can help justify the higher Trex decking costs if you live in an area with abundant termites.

It is possible to pressure wash your deck, but it’s usually best to leave the work to a professional for two main reasons. First, power washers are expensive, and you can avoid high upfront costs by hiring a deck washing pro instead. Second, you must be careful to use the correct setting to avoid damaging your deck material. You can only clean soft woods like pine with a wide spray and a low pressure; otherwise, the water will leave unpleasant marks on your deck. Hard woods, composite material, and metal can stand up to increasingly higher water pressures.

Yes, Ipe wood is a popular high-end choice for pool decking. It repels water and is naturally slip-resistant. It's not susceptible to mold, mildew, or rot, either, so it lasts longer and is cleaner and more hygienic than other popular decking materials. However, remember that due to its status, it is a very high-cost wood, and you might find that an alternative would serve you just as well for significantly less.

Some elevated decks require stairs that lead to the ground level per the local fire codes in some municipalities. In other regions, a staircase is an optional feature that can increase accessibility and convenience for homeowners who want ground-level access to their deck. Additionally, a staircase is necessary if your home doesn't have an existing door leading to the deck.

The proper and most comfortable height for a deck stair riser, also called a step, is between four and seven inches. A height of seven inches is often considered ideal for a strain-free step that minimizes the risk of trips and falls. While it is possible to have risers up to 12 inches, this height can be challenging for children, pets, or individuals with mobility issues. For optimal safety and comfort, pair a seven-inch riser with a tread depth (or run) of at least 10 to 12 inches. Always check your local building codes, as they may have specific requirements that differ from these general recommendations.
