"I hired Severo for ongoing mowing/edging/bush trimming. I am VERY happy with his services. Before I hired him, he came by and we talked about what I wanted (I especially wanted a lawn with a clean edge). He gave me a firm price for everything and returned as agreed to do the work. Severo and his team take pride in their work and went above and beyond what was promised. All grass and bush clippings were removed. He even filled in the dog holes and cleaned out the window wells. My yard now looks absolutely wonderful, and the edging turned out exactly how I wanted it (thank you!). Excellent value too. My neighbor has now hired him too."

Lawns questions, answered by experts

There are several ways to decompose yard waste quickly. The first step is to move all debris into a compost bin or pile. From there, microorganisms, bacteria, and insects will break down the yard waste into compost. To speed things up, shred the waste into smaller pieces, add live worms to the pile, or introduce nitrogen-rich compost accelerators like grass clippings, coffee grounds, and manure. Turn the compost over every few days. This process, called aerating, allows oxygen to get in and accelerate decomposition.

It can be bad to leave a dead stump in the ground. A stump becomes a hefty piece of dead wood in time and eventually (especially with the help of rain) starts to rot. That makes it a locus point for diseases and pesky insects, as well as a bit of an eyesore. It’s best to remove a tree stump completely before it starts to decay, especially before it starts to fall apart. If the tree was removed because of disease, it’s even more important to fully remove the stump if possible.

Post-dethatching, lawn recovery includes watering, fertilizing, and reseeding as necessary to restore health and promote growth.

Yes, but it depends on what you have planted in yours and the extent of the damage. Hardier shrubs and plants with droopy leaves have a better chance of bouncing back, but do go ahead and cut back any broken branches or damaged portions. Fertilizer can help, but wait until you spot new growth before you feed any plants.

A land-clearing project begins with assessing and preparing the property and pulling any necessary permits with your municipal building department. Clearing can begin after the project details are ironed out between you and your pro and a written contract is signed. Pros will bring out the necessary equipment and crew to first remove trees, stumps, brush, and vegetation. Your pro will then load up and haul away the project debris, and depending on the project, they may finish by grading the cleared land.
