We offer 24-hour emergency service, as well as restoration services for homes that have been damaged by smoke, fire, soot, floods, water, wind, and vandalism. We also offer air duct cleaning and indoor humidity control. "The initial call to Dayspring was answered by a real person!! Their tech showed up within five hours and I was very pleased. However; they quickly turned my pleasure to despair! Their supervision would commit to a date/time and subsequently the time would come and go with nobody showing up - I would have to be the one call contact them and even when I had a tough talk with them stating that I understood when plans change, but expected notification — it still didn’t get better. They lie and seem comfortable with that. This went on throughout the process and getting them on-site was like pulling teeth. They did not have adequate knowledge to preform the mitigation and the overriding driver for Dayspring was to keep equipment at the house to drive up their billing. All in all they are NOT good at what they do and are horrible at communication and transparency. I would never use them again, regardless of the circumstances."

Biohazard Remediation questions, answered by experts

Removing the original paint or stain before refinishing is a good idea, as it ensures the new finish bonds strongly to the wood. If you skip the stripping or sanding step, the new finish may peel or flake away from the railing easily. Using a wood stripper will completely remove the old stain or paint while sanding will help to prime the surface.

Appliances that are smudge-proof stainless steel have a protective clear coating that makes them smudge-proof. Unfortunately, you can’t truly remove a scratch on this surface without also removing that special coating. Your best bet is to let the scratch be or protect it with a small dab of clear nail polish.

You can risk the option of buffing out the scratches, and be very diligent in coating the area you buffed with oil to reduce the dullness. Just know that if you choose to buff it out, there’s a possibility that the spot won’t look the same as the rest of the appliance.

Small appliance repair costs around $150 on average, but you could pay between $50 and $400 for your repair, depending on the type of appliance, the brand, availability of the replacement parts, and the extent of the damage. Here are some average repair costs based on the type of small appliance:

  • Microwave: $250

  • Toaster: $150

  • Blender: $150

  • Food processor: $150

  • Garbage disposal: $175

  • Coffee maker: $100

  • Range hood: $200

  • Countertop ice maker: $125

  • Wine fridge: $225

It depends. Use the “50% rule” to help you decide. For example, you should consider replacing the appliance if it is halfway through its lifespan and the repair will cost more than 50% of the price of a new one. Contrary to popular belief, repairing a major appliance is more wallet-friendly than purchasing a new one. While the cost of new home appliances can run as high as $8,000, the average cost to repair them is $170. If the appliance you’re trying to get rid of isn’t too old, consult a local appliance repair expert to see what can be done to restore it.

The process involves prepping surfaces, applying primer, and finishing with a coating that restores appearance and durability and provides an updated look.
