"I had multiple bids for this tree trimming. The tree have been allowed to run feral for quite some time and required some thoughtful work.. Adam came out and of all the people who bid he clearly knew the most about the tree: what kind it was, how big it would get, and how to keep it healthy, and alive for years to come, We talked about shaping and he took time to discuss everything with me. It was a no-brainer to choose Adam and his team! We will have them back again."

"Corrie was great to deal with! Replied quickly, showed up on time for an estimate and then returned again promptly to complete the work. Itâ s been a struggle to find people to return your calls lately because everyone is so busy. Corrie was reliable and efficient. Weâ ll hire him again for sure."

"Joseph and Wade from Champion and Chuck from Harmon Crane did a fantastic job of removing a 100' problem tree that was between my house and power lines. Joseph promptly called after I queried and I couldn't be happier with the service provided. They were very prompt and cleaned up all debris leftover. I highly recommend Champion Tree Trimming Service and will be using them again in the future."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Although the terms tree trimming and tree pruning are used interchangeably, they are very different types of tree maintenance. Tree trimming involves enhancing the appearance of your tree by removing unruly branches, providing your tree with ample sunlight and nutrients and prevents unsightly overgrowth.

Tree pruning helps keep your trees disease-free. This process removes unhealthy growths, dead branches, and other unhealthy parts of the tree. It’s more common for deciduous and ornamental trees but not so common for evergreen trees. To determine which method you need, discuss it with a tree trimming specialist.

You may wonder whether tree removal is tax deductible: Tree removal is not tax-deductible for homeowners unless it's related to a federally declared disaster. In that case, the cost may qualify as a casualty loss. However, if you own a commercial property, like a rental home, tree removal could be deductible if it's necessary for safety, maintenance, or part of a larger capital improvement project, and you must hire a professional tree removal service and keep documentation. Always consult a tax professional beforehand to see if you qualify.

Cutting down a dead tree is always strongly advisable. Aside from being an eyesore, a dead tree can be extremely hazardous, especially when it’s near people or structures. Even if the tree isn’t near your home, it can still harbor pests and diseases that can potentially spread to nearby plants and homes.

Yes, burning wood with Dutch elm disease is a safer way to dispose of it than, say, tossing it in with the rest of your yard waste, which could potentially allow it to spread to healthy trees. But it’s always a good idea to check with your local government to make sure you’re complying with any ordinances about removing diseased trees as well as burning brush piles.

Steer clear of the area and contact your utility company immediately. It will have a website portal and/or a phone number to report downed trees and electrical issues. If the tree appears to be on public land, you may want to call your local government and report the issue there, too.
