"We had a very pleasant experience with Founders contracting during our bathroom remodel. The tub shower conversion to walk in tiled shower was the main goal. We are happy with the whole remodel. The owner has great communication, is prompt and professional. He had great suggestions and accommodated a couple of extra requests. Highly recommend."

"Chayse was such a professional with a great attitude and good work ethic. Was very impressed with his can do attitude, approach, and meticulous execution of the job of receiving a crated freezer from the shipping company, installing and moving it to the designated space inside our shop. Will hire him again for any future handyman job!"

A functional sink was installed that did not come out into the doorway. A custom cabinet needed to be built for the plumbing.

"Wyatt is a dependable and honest business owner/operator that has great knowledge in residential construction ( my need). He completed several jobs such as a fire place wall build-out with side shelving, accent wall using wood paneling, kitchen backsplash, crown molding and window framing. Wyatt is flexible to the needs of his client's and is willing to adjust his work schedule and plans to fit the needs of his client. He frequently discusses plans to ensure the client's concepts are translated into the desired work outcome BEFORE he commences work. At his age of 30, Wyatt should have a great outlook for his future in providing The Flathead County area with quality construction, reliable service and professional conduct."

"Once I sent her all the measurements, it took her a little while to get the options back to me.  Overall, they're good designs.  However, they're very simplistic and give general ideas for space planning.  I was hoping to have a better idea for sizes of furniture for the space and some variations on staging.
Jill was very responsive when I did have a question.  I'm not sure how helpful it is to have a virtual design done.  If we lived in similar cities, I'd probably use her again for help with additional designs.

Small jobs welcome

"Herman did an excellent job repairing both deeply and lightly cracked plaster and adding new drywall in my old house. The finished walls and ceilings are smooth and beautiful - totally transformed by Hermanâ s skilled workmanship. Hermanâ s carpentry skills are an added bonus, and I appreciated his being able to easily extend a soffit and doorway so that there were no unnecessary delays."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

No, you don’t technically need a cement backer board for a wall tiling project, but not using it risks disastrous moisture damage. Cement is naturally water-resistant, whereas drywall soaks it in, which can lead to warping or mold growth. Always use a backer board treated with a waterproof membrane for bathrooms and other chronically damp areas to ensure complete tile shower waterproofing.

The tile spacing you should use will depend on the tile and where you’re installing it. Choosing the right tile spacers to maintain a consistent gap between your tiles is tricky. Generally, tile spacing shouldn’t be less than 2 millimeters on walls and 3 millimeters on floors because of stress relief requirements. Getting it wrong can result in uneven tiles and early repairs.

Yes, it’s possible to cut tile without a wet saw; instead, you can use an angle grinder, a glass cutter, a snap cutter, tile nippers, or a rotary tool with a tile-cutting blade. A manual tile cutter or snap cutter works well for the larger tiles that wet saws are typically used for, while smaller projects might just require nippers or a glass cutting wheel. If you’re working with large quantities of tile, however, power tools are best.

Yes, but you should only put tile directly on drywall in smaller areas that don’t experience excess moisture. For example, a small kitchen tile backsplash could work, but installing tile directly on the drywall in a bathroom or other chronically damp area is not a good idea. Either way, a cement backer board is a far more reliable solution, as drywall is susceptible to moisture and can warp or cause your tiles to crack.

Yes, cracked tiles allow water to seep through the substrate or subfloor, leading to mold and mildew growth. It can also cause severe structural damage. At the very least, water damage can cause your tile to lift from the substrate, meaning one cracked tile can lead to several cracked tiles. It’s a good idea to waterproof tile in areas with direct water exposure or lots of moisture.
