"I had Arcs and Crafts fabricate a range hood for me! He puts so much care and detail into his work, Iâ m very happy with how it turned out. He also made sure to take extra care when installing it to not damage anything in the kitchen. Very satisfied!"

Small jobs welcome

"I hired the American Innovation Co. to build a custom rain gutter arch over our sidewalk to our front door. Turned out great! Brent did a good job in the time specified and for the price we agreed to. Very happy with his work and would highly recommend him to others needing custom metal work done."

"Professional and courteous from start to finish Met all expectations delivering quality work. I would recommend this builder and will use them again in the future. The only issue we had, and a minor one, was getting a full crew over during a couple of Holliday weeks however he regained momentum quickly and though it was stressful at the time it had no impact in the end. Communicating is good and he touched base with me often without me having to chase him down. I guessing we recognized early on I needed that."

Welding questions, answered by experts

This all depends on the tools you have on hand and whether you’re trying to cut a straight line or shapes.

The best tool to use for straight lines is either a circular saw or table saw. When cutting shapes, a jigsaw will be the easiest and most precise tool to use.

Sawing your hot tub into more manageable chunks so it can be lifted easily into a truck takes several hours. Generally, 2.5 hours for smaller hot tubs and around 4 hours for larger ones with the help of one to two people. If money isn't a concern and you want to skip the physical labor, you can hire a pro to get the job done.

The cost to weld aluminum averages about $14 to $22 per pound. The type of metal factors into the overall cost of any welding project due to the cost of the materials and the expertise required to work with it. Some of the most common metals used by welders include:

  • Magnesium alloy: $7–$16 per pound

  • Low-carbon steel: $11–$12 per pound

  • Stainless steel: $13–$15 per pound

  • Copper/brass: $24–$29 per pound

  • Cast iron: $38–$79 per pound

  • Titanium: $60–$85 per pound

Welding is the process of using extreme heat—and, sometimes, pressure—to attach two pieces of metal. In contrast, metal fabrication is a more involved process that can include welding, sheet metal work, bending, and other forms of metal manipulation. Metal fabrication is a large-scale project that may or may not involve welding, while welding is more often a step in larger fabrication projects.

Costs depend on unit complexity, labor, wall mounting needs, and additional accessories like floating shelves.
