"We had the windows in our top 2 levels replaced a couple years back with RBA and after experiencing the great customer service and quality of windows we decided to come back to finish updating our lower level windows. This experience was great from start to finish again. The windows and install are of high quality. Great care was given to strengthening the window wells upon installation."

"This company and employees were very helpful, polite and informative on updating and installing my front room window. It did take longer than usual for this project due to the fact that the window is no longer made in my size. So we had to wait for awhile. But it was worth the wait. Both my husband and I are greatly impressed with this company and our window. We have even had compliments on it. We also found that this window brings in more light than the old one. I will recommend this company to anyone who is looking for replacing or adding windows."

"The installation was super easy but ultimately returned the system within the 30 day trial period. They send you the system which is super easy to install. You take the sticker off the back and place the sensor wherever you want it to go. Customer service is great. Reason we returned the system: 1) price- $35/month but doesn't include mobile app or crash and smash protection 2) the central system is HUGE and looks like it is from the 1980s. (The flat screen is an extra $150.) You also have to hang it on the wall by yourself and is super ugly and has a huge wire coming from it that has to be plugged in 3) Does not beep when doors are open when alarm is off We ended up ultimately going with Monitronics and we love it. They come and installed the system for free and they wire the flatscreen central monitor in the wall so you can't see any wires. We pay $35 per month which INCLUDES a mobile app and crash and smash protection. (front point cheapest plan with a mobile app and crash and smash protection is $45/month) The Monitronics system beeps and tells you whenever a door or window is open even if the alarm is off which is super helpful when you have kids."

"AHS needs to step up to the plate when their representative companies fall short.
Our refrigerator broke in June and they sent a repair company who "fixed" the problem telling us to wait a few hours and then the fridge should be cold.  Several hours later the fridge was still at room temperature.  Upon contacting the repair company, they said they could not fix it then and would have AHS send out someone else.
Several days later, a second repair company came.  They said the first company had messed up the repair and determined that parts were required.  Ordering the parts would take two weeks, so they scheduled a return in three weeks.
At the return date, we received a call that the repair truck had broke down and they would need to re-schedule (not send an alternate or have someone come the next day, but re-schedule).  The new date was the day we were to leave for vacation.  We told the dispatcher that it would need to be a morning appointment.  When they called the day before to give the window, it was an afternoon appointment.  We told them that they had promised morning and they said okay and they would change it.  As we were leaving for vacation at 2:00 PM, we got a call that the technician was on his way.  We told them that they had promised morning and we had to leave and they were not even apologetic.
The repair company then said the best they could do was three weeks later.  When they came and put in the parts, it still did not work and they said that we would need a new fridge.
AHS, under the agreement, offered two models for us to choose and we selected the one we wanted.  We requested stainless steel as that was what we had.  They informed me that I could only chose black or white and the upcharge to stainless was my problem.  When I asked for some consideration in light of what I had been through, the person only could say "policy this" and "procedure that".
SO AFTER ALL THIS - I HAD TO PAY $97.70 FOR STAINLESS STEEL.  THEY COULD NOT EVEN TAKE THAT ON THEMSELVES AFTER ALL THE ISSUES I HAD WITH THEIR REPRESENTATIVE SERVICE COMPANIES.

Windows questions, answered by experts

Storm windows have about the same life span as standard windows—between 20 and 30 years. Vinyl and wood storm windows last longer than aluminum, but they all fall within that life span range. Of course, how long your storm windows last will depend on how much severe weather they see. Direct impacts, in particular, can quickly reduce how long your storm windows last.

Awning windows are just like hopper windows except that they open the opposite way. Instead of opening inward, awning windows open outward with a hinge at the top. This creates a mini-awning within your window frame, which is where the name comes from. Hopper windows, on the other hand, open inward with a hinge at the bottom.

Installing energy-efficient windows costs between $325 and $2,000, averaging about $400 per window. You’ll have to consider cost factors like the window’s size, frame material, and type. Labor costs in your area will also impact the overall cost of the project, with window installation professionals charging about $40 per hour on average. Different types of energy-efficient windows include:

  • Single-hung: $150–$2,500

  • Casement: $150–$600

  • Double-hung: $250–$3,000

  • Picture: $200–$650

  • Bay: $480–$1,920

A garden window is about 16 inches to 24 inches deep. This extra space makes room for small potted plants, which is how the garden window, also called a greenhouse window, got its name. Because garden windows jut outward from the house, they need to be installed in a place where they won’t obstruct walkways.

The rough opening refers to the framed space in the wall where the window will be placed. That means the full size of the space will be filled with both glass and frame once the new window is installed. For a standard window, a rough opening adds 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch to both the length and width.
