"I wanted two trees pruned and canopy raised on trees with young branches, some ontop of my roof and nearby neighbors roof. BnR presented a business card, wore a company logo on shirt, presented a license on his cell phone, assured he performed professional experienced service. BnR (Brian Rutherford quoted me $750 for 2 trees but $500 minimum for one and would not agree to less even with the issues that arose. BnR arrived around 4:30 PM with a large bucket truck and small back shovel. I was told the backshovel would fit through my gate and around an air conditioner. Upon arrival it was clear that the backshovel would not fit through my gate and BnR wanted to dismantle my fence. Luckily I asked my neighbor permission to operate from their yard which allowed access. BnR attempted to move the large truck onto neighbor's yard where it began to sank, especially after days of rain and soil enudation which I cautioned BnR's plan. BnR pulled the large equipment off lawn and a worker tried to repair it before switching to the backshovel. Brian had one worker climb into the shovel and use a pole-saw to prune while another climbed upon the roof to cut some branches laying on roof. BnR did not prune all the branches that needed pruning and they worked by twilight and it was very dark when they finished around 6:30 PM. This may have contributed to the pruning not to my desires. I stayed nearby the whole time and although we reviewed the job again with Brian before his workers arrived with the equipment, I kept reminding him to prune certain branches during the job. These were kind workers but $500 was pricey for the job."

"TaylorMade Construction constructed a beautiful cedar fence on each side of the front of our house. Ethan removed and carried away the old fencing and constructed a new fence in its place. He approached this Project as if it was being done for himself! He did a fantastic job with a key note for the small details to make this a beautiful presentation to the front of our Home! I would highly recommend him for any project you may need, I will certainly contact him again for our needs on the future!"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

The fastest ways to remove a tree stump are by grinding it or burning it.

Stump grinding is often the quickest method, with professionals able to chip away a stump and its roots within a single session. You have the option to hire a professional stump removal service or rent a stump grinder to do it yourself. However, it's important to note that these machines can be large, difficult to transport, and dangerous to operate without prior experience. For safety reasons, hiring a local arborist or landscape specialist is often recommended.

Burning is another fast option. Before you begin, check your local burn laws. The process involves drilling holes into the stump, filling them with vegetable oil, and waiting 24 to 48 hours. Afterward, you can add charcoal bricks to the surface and light the fire, which must be attended at all times.

For a more affordable but much slower alternative, you can use potassium nitrate pellets to accelerate the natural decomposition process. This method typically takes four to six months.

Cutting down a dead tree is always strongly advisable. Aside from being an eyesore, a dead tree can be extremely hazardous, especially when it’s near people or structures. Even if the tree isn’t near your home, it can still harbor pests and diseases that can potentially spread to nearby plants and homes.

You’ll have to balance up the cost, the value of the tree (sentimental or otherwise), and the risk factors. An experienced arborist will help you understand whether transplanting is likely to be successful. The cost and hassle of transplanting a large, well-established tree are often not worth it, especially if the species is fast-growing and easy to source. The decision depends on the age and species of the tree, the conditions in the new site location, and how careful the company is when digging out and moving the tree.

A serrated knife will work for cutting off small palm tree fronds, about 1 inch in diameter. For larger fronds, you will need pruning shears. You may also use a pruning saw, and if your palm tree is especially tall, an extended pole saw can help you reach the brown fronds around the trunk.

The best tools for tree removal include a chainsaw for large trees, an ax for notching and cutting down small trees, and a wedge to help control the direction a tree falls in. A hatchet can be useful for very small trees, but won’t be effective for medium to large trees.
