"The price was very good and the work was fine. I gave them a B because setting it up was confusing. This company has one of those franchise set ups where you call a number and get someone in Florida or wherever. You never talk to someone local until the service person calls to say they are on the way. It's confusing because the coupon also listed a Florida location and I thought I'd purchased the wrong offer by mistake. Then, there are the calls from various locations to confirm the appointment. It made me very cautious because I've had several bad experiences with this type of set up and appointments that don't happen or get mixed up.
In the end, the man showed up on time and did a good job. We have pets and get a lot of lint and hair in the vents, which means we need to clean them annually or semi-annually, especially since we have a vent pipe that exits through the roof and not straight out through the wall. It's more apt to clog up and become a fire hazard. I get it done regularly and know what they should do, and it all happened very efficiently. They clean up nicely and were appropriately cautious about doors and equipment due to pets too.

Doors questions, answered by experts

Steel doors are among the most affordable options for your front door. Steel doors are worth the cost if you’re looking for a budget-friendly door that maximizes home security and energy efficiency. Plus, they can last up to 100 years, making them a high-quality and long-term investment.

A door swells up when there’s a lot of moisture in the air. Wood doors are porous, and the elements can cause them to expand with humidity and contract with dry air. Prevent swelling by coating the door in weather-resistant paint, which creates a barrier to seal out moisture. Otherwise, go with a water-repellent finish after the fact. On the plus side, this problem will go away once the weather changes.

You want a small gap of 1/8 of an inch between the door and the jamb. However, the gap size depends on the direction the door swings and whether it contains glass. You will also want to aim for the same size gap on all sides of the door, so it opens and closes smoothly.

There aren’t many problems with fire doors except that they slow down or cut off ventilation at the higher rating levels. For this reason, work with a professional to ensure you have adequate ventilation throughout your house or workspace. The sealing around a fire door is meant to allow for a specific amount of ventilation and will need regular inspections to ensure adequate airflow.

No, exterior doors don’t need to be prehung, although choosing a door that is prehung makes the installation process far easier. Installing an exterior door that isn’t prehung requires carefully maneuvering the heavy door into place in your door frame, making sure it’s level and plumb on all sides, and then attaching the hinges so that they’re perfectly level and are affixed to the right part of your frame and door. Prehung exterior doors are far more DIY-friendly.
