"Rod and his helper Danny work together seamlessly and efficiently while still being funny and engaging. I've hired many electricians in my lifetime of old home renovations and have never been more impressed. I had a worst case scenario about this job and he could have easily gouged me for unnecessary repairs but he didn't. If you want an honest electrician then Rod is your guy."

"They come when they say they are. They not only tell you what the problem is. They show you what it is, and give you the best option to fix it. They don’t jack up the prices for parts, and they get it done the right way the first time around. Great people and, I’m gladly grateful and pleased! MAC HVAC was the ones to fix my problems"

Small jobs welcome

"We needed to have a soldier course of bricks installed into a channel cut into the driveway. Not a big project. 16 1/2 feet and we had the bricks. We had some outrageous quotes from people who did not even bother to look at the project. Then Troy called; he came to see us and described how he would do it and quoted a reasonable price. We agreed on a date. They called to let us know they were on the way. Pleasant and professional. And neat. We will have him back for a few other projects."

Holiday Decorating questions, answered by experts

You should always hang the lights before the ornaments because hanging lights on top of ornaments can cause some to fall off. If a light sits directly on top of an ornament, it can cause it to heat up and possibly change its color or cause it to crack.

Blinker lights come with a standard box of Christmas lights, so you don’t need to pay extra for them unless you’ve misplaced the ones from the original box. You can buy replacement Christmas blinker lights for about $8 per box. If you want to plan for future holidays, you can buy a value box of 24 replacement blinker bulbs for about $12. Also called flasher lights, the replacement bulbs often come in packages of six bulbs.

When it comes to bang for your buck, LED lights are the clear winner for Christmas lights. While these will cost more upfront, they’ll last you for many holidays to come—far longer than your basic halogen bulbs. Along with that, they also save you big on energy costs throughout the season.

During the holidays, big box hardware stores sell many kinds of clips and hooks made specifically for hanging Christmas lights—including ridge clips, gutter clips, shingle clips, and mounted hooks. It’s best to avoid nails, staples, and screws since they can damage your roof.

Heavy amounts of snow could be a problem. In many climates, lots of snow on your rooftop can lead to freeze-thaw cycle that create ice dams, which can damage rooftops. But if you’re using shingle clips, this snow poses an additional problem: As it melts and freezes, it can easily dislodge clips you’ve placed on your roof.

You can clean snow off your roof after a fresh snowfall while it’s still lightweight, but brushing off snow can also dislodge your clips. If you get a lot of snow, then roof clips become less viable.
