"The owner of Bull & Ram Builders is nothing less than FANTASTIC! He s thorough, reasonable, reliable, friendly yet professional and timely in his completion of projects I had him do - which was several! After going through several pros & getting no satisfaction I lucked out finding this guy!!!! I would not only recommend him if you have any handyman projects needed done in your home but I would strongly encourage you to hire him...I was not disappointed in anything he undertook doing for me and I highly doubt that you would be either. Take my advice...if you want something done the right way in a timely reasonable friendly and thorough manner, hire Bull and Ram....thank you Jared - you ve helped me so much to make my house the home I want!!"

"They did a walkthrough when they finished. I mentioned a couple of things that they happily addressed. I found something that needed to be repaired and they fixed it while they were here. They didnâ t put me off and come another time."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

To cover your HVAC ducts and air vents during construction, use plastic sheets or drop cloths secured with painter's tape. Be sure to cover all supply vents on your floors and walls, as well as the larger HVAC return vent, which is typically on the ceiling. While canvas drop cloths can also be used, they may not catch all the fine dust. It is crucial to shut off your HVAC system or at least the zone where construction is happening. Running the system with vents sealed can put significant strain on the blower motor and air handler. For additional dust containment, you can also hang plastic sheets over doorways to separate the construction area from the rest of your home.

If you feel your energy bills are too high or your HVAC system is working harder than necessary to maintain the correct temperature in your home, you may have an under-insulated home. If you’re unsure, consider having your system’s efficiency assessed by a local independent energy auditor.

Insulating your basement walls offers numerous advantages that make the project well worth it. By adding insulation, you can reduce the chances of moisture damage to the house's structure and lower the odds of mold growth. You'll also add comfort to the space by reducing temperature swings and increasing your home's energy efficiency, potentially reducing your energy bills to earn your investment back.

All garage doors, particularly newly installed models, add value to your home. Higher-quality and higher-priced doors increase the ROI, so a well-insulated custom garage door increases the value of your home more than a poorly-insulated stock model. Updating a garage door boasts the second-highest home improvement ROI, at nearly 95%.

On average, insulating an attic costs about $2,500, with a typical range of $1,500 to $3,500. The final price often depends on the attic's size, with costs generally falling between $1 to $3 per square foot. For example, insulating a 1,800-square-foot attic would likely cost between $1,800 and $5,400.

If the project involves removing old insulation, this can add an average of $900 to the total cost, bringing a full removal and reinsulation project to around $3,000.

Several factors influence the overall cost:

  • Insulation Type: Prices per square foot vary significantly by material.

  • Reflective: $0.50–$1.50

  • Blown-in: $1–$4

  • Batt: $2–$4

  • Loose-fill: $2–$5

  • Spray foam: $2–$5

  • Structural insulated panels (SIPs): $4–$7

  • Project Complexity: Factors like sealing air leaks, poor attic accessibility, and required inspections can add to the cost.

  • Removal Issues: The discovery of mold, asbestos, or pests during the removal of old insulation can substantially increase the price.
