Then within the day he got back with us with a written bid. We have a 3 story (from the side) home made out of rough cut lumber. Itâ s a big job. Luncsford Painting arrive the day they said. Since the average weight for a gallon of paint is between 7 and 12 pounds per gallon, the average weight of a 5-gallon bucket of paint will be around 35 to 60 pounds. The weight of your paint will depend on the quality and type of paint, with richer colors derived from heavy metals or natural earth pigments weighing the most and synthetically-derived paints weighing the least.

Because of its chemical composition, you don’t need to prime fiberglass before painting. Paint will adhere without issues and have a smooth, even appearance without needing a primer coat. However, a top coat may be necessary to limit damages from weather and ensure you don’t need to repaint your door so soon.  

You can paint over water-damaged drywall as long as it’s dry and there’s no active leak. However, painting over the area will not solve deeper problems like mold or water leaks. 

If you’re 100% positive that these two issues aren’t a concern, paint over the area with a water—or oil-based primer. This type of paint will ensure that it doesn’t simply seep into the spot.

Paint comes in a variety of finishes. In most cases, a satin or semi-gloss sheen is a safe bet because it’s easy to wipe down and clean, while hiding scuffs and scratches. However, if you’re looking for a statement piece, consider using a high-gloss sheen to bring drama and light into the space. Keep in mind, while visually striking, higher sheens are more likely to show imperfections.

Magnetic paint is only available in dark gray or black because of the iron dust particles mixed through it. If your heart is set on a less-gloomy shade, add a top coat or two of other latex or chalkboard paint. But adding more than two top coats will degrade the magnetic properties. Dark top coats work better than light shades, as the black or gray magnetic paint is less likely to peek through.
