"The Dowell family arrived promptly and began extensive repair of plaster walls and ceilings. They were professional, flexible and did extra work without increasing the original bid. They were clean and finished earlier than expected. They repaired problem areas where drywall and plaster joined. They repaired large holes in garage. The quality of the work is exceptional and the price was the fairest, least inflated that we received. We had to wait 3 weeks for start day but it was well worth it. They noticed so much plaster damage that we did not see and restored the integrity of the walls of our childhood home in preparation for selling. Thank you for the beautiful work."

"Lockwood personnel are skilled, professional, punctual and they clean up after themselves. They completed a tricky ceiling repair while maintaining my wall border. They did the drywall, mud and then painted it and added texture to match the rest of the ceiling. I know where the damage was and I could not tell once they were done. They also treated prior water stains and damage around a light fixture. The workers treated my home as their own and took great pains to get it right, and they cleaned up when they were done. I was also not afraid to have their workers in my home. It's as if nothing happened only better because now my ceiling looks new again. Having dealt with, and been disappointed by, many contractors over the years, this is the first review I've written because I was very satisfied with the pricing, scheduling and most of all the quality and outcome of the work done. I'm preparing my list of projects for them to tackle next."

"ATTENTION PEOPLE. These guys are the BEST. HANDS DOWN ! they stopped out within a couple of hours of me contacting them, gave me a bid on the spot. Began working on my project 2 days later. They adjusted their bid to fit my budget. This company did a FANTASTIC job painting my eaves and soffit, yet the peaks were about 35 feet off the ground. Did a FANTASTIC Job cleaning the areas afterwards. They even took it upon themselves to clean my gutters without me asking. How nice is that. They deserve 10 stars. "They were very upfront on the scope of repairs, and they were honest about the scheduled time frame. This roof repair was to replace some plywood and shingles. "Beaty sent two handymen. One was clearly more experienced than the other. Fortunately, since I had a variety of tasks, each could jump right in. They replaced a kitchen faucet, fixed a bathroom ceiling fan, installed a bathroom shower rod, installed an outdoor light fixture and replaced a lock set on the front door. They did excellent work and I was very happy with the results. I certainly will use Beaty again for future handyman tasks around the house."

If your popcorn ceiling is asbestos-free and you are ready for a new look, painting is an option. The best way to paint a popcorn ceiling is to use either a paint sprayer or a thick roller to cover the popcorn texture fully. (Do not forget to dust it off beforehand!)

“Note that if you eventually want to remove the popcorn ceiling, a painted ceiling is a labor-intensive job to remove and will cost more,” says Bob Tschudi. “Once painted, the process of removing the popcorn ceiling requires physical scraping as opposed to a spray-and-scrape approach. It’s very labor-intensive, and thus more costly.”
