"We’ve not owned a pool before. Aric made understanding the process of preparing our pool for the season easy and manageable. Great customer service skills! He communicated well, and didn’t try to sale us extra products we didn’t need. We’d definitely hire him again."

"Gary is fantastic! I bought an old house with a big old inground pool that hadnâ t been taken care of. Gary brought it back to life made it look beautiful and ready for pool parties and guests. He communicated everything he was doing and always responds to text messages whenever I have a question come up. If you have a pool HIRE HIM!"

"Brian is very very prompt and efficient. He has an inviting personality that is accommodating yet professional. Cameron and Lisa are also very friendly and efficient at their respective detail. What an awesome company with awesome personnel that really care that their end result is as perfect as can be. Telephone etiquette by all is prompt and easy to understand. Could not be happier; only pool contractor I would ever recommend."

"Pool brothers did an excellent job installing my in-ground vinyl liner. Shane's bid was over $500 under everyone else's. He was very knowledgeable and easy to communicate with. His crew worked extremely quickly and efficiently and my liner was installed in the pool and ready to go in 2 days. He also did some extra work that I needed on the pool filter that I'm very happy with as well."

Small jobs welcome

"Dustin was great showed up prompt and had all his equipment ready to roll. It was our first time opening the pool and he was very happy to walk us through the process and show us how to check for proper operation of all the equipment. He was very informative of all the mechanics and showed us all the tips he could from his experience. We are so pleased to find an honest and caring professional to help us into pool ownership. We will definitely have him back for any issues and to close the pool this fall."

Pool and Spa Servicing questions, answered by experts

Yes, but only if it is a freshwater tub (not saltwater) and if you make sure the chlorine and bromine levels are below 1 ppm.

Yes. If you test the water and the alkalinity is too low, you can raise it by adding an alkalinity increaser, which likely came with your hot tub’s chemical kit. In a pinch, you can use baking soda to raise the hot tub’s alkalinity. Raising the alkalinity will prevent the hot tub water from becoming too acidic.

Biofilm growth can cause a hot tub to feel slimy. Hot tub biofilm is a slimy substance that’s typically due to natural contaminants like makeup, soaps, skin oils, deodorants, or lotions. A hot tub can also have a slimy interior or slimy water if the tub’s filters are old or damaged, or if the hot tub isn’t properly cleaned. You should drain your hot tub, wipe away any slimy residue, then refill the water and use a spa purge product that prevents the buildup of biofilm.

Where you drain a hot tub largely depends on local regulations, but you must not drain chemically treated water where it can damage the environment. Direct the water toward a sanitary sewer drain that will take it to a treatment facility. If your lawn has a dedicated drainage area that’s free from plants and foundations, you can likely drain it there. Avoid storm drains, as the hot tub water will enter waterways and could hurt aquatic life. Likewise, do not pour it out directly on any public land or where it can get into your neighbors’ property.

Vinegar can be used as an all-purpose cleaner for many things, including hot tub filters. Soaking hot tub filters in vinegar and water for up to 24 hours can remove dirt and oil, and as a bonus, it won’t cause the water to foam after you reinstall it if there’s vinegar left on it. But make sure you still rinse it to remove any debris, dirt, or grime stuck on it.
