"Needed a basement remodel. After conducting a significant amount of due diligence, several estimates and interviews I/we selected Affinity Construction. I make every attempt to spend my money locally as Affinity is locally owned. The owner Justin in my opinion was the one that was honest and Frank with regard to cost estimates that fit my needs. As the job got underway Justin was welcoming about any changes that I had. His employees, Mike and crew were attentive and responsive to my requirements during the build and offered good suggestions/alternatives to my ideas. Thanks guys!! I recommend this company to all for your construction/remodel needs. I will be hiring them again as I continue to remodel my home before I retire. Thanks again Justin"

I started my company with one main goal in mind : To build a quality home without cutting corners. Money is always a factor and there are areas of your home that you cannot afford to be cheap and other places where going with the expensive option is not always in your best interest. That is where my company differs form others. We wont try to upsell you for a quick buck. That being said we will not skimp where it counts. I have seen so many homeowners have buyers remorse AFTER building their home because of something they didn't know or didn't think of. On several occasions it has been because of problems that occurred during the building phase that were overlooked by the general contractor or by a sub contractor. Mistakes happen but is in my job to make sure they don't happen and are corrected if they do. Communication is key in helping you understand the process of building and exactly where your money going. We want you to be happy with your home and we structure it to last.

Home Building questions, answered by experts

One of the best ways to negotiate with a homebuilder is to forgo price reductions. Instead, negotiate over upgrades and incentives, as many builders are more willing to go down that road than to decrease their own fee. Even if they were willing to take a cut, a reputable homebuilder often knows their worth, so a willingness to negotiate could be a red flag. Beyond that, builders are typically willing to negotiate closing costs instead of offering a discount on the base price.

One starting point to find a local home builder is to collect suggestions from friends and neighbors. However, it’s still wise to do some more research before you hire a builder. Read reviews to supplement any word-of-mouth recommendations. Check sources like Angi that have standards and criteria in place to screen the pros it lists can also help you find more reputable local home builders.

On average, the cost of a home builder is about $150 per square foot, but that price can range from around $100 to $400 per square foot or more. That puts the typical price range of a standard, 2,000-square-foot house between $200,000 and $800,000. Some factors that affect the price of hiring a home builder include the following:

  • Location of your home and the living cost in the area

  • Type of foundation and framing you choose

  • Quality of the building materials

  • Footprint and layout of the house

  • Number of stories

  • Builder’s experience

Modular homes can be a great investment, especially for those who find the prices of stick-built real estate too high. Modular homes are usually much more affordable because they’re mass-manufactured and then assembled on-site or delivered mostly assembled. If they’re installed properly and by professionals, they can last for between 50 and 100 years, potentially making them an outstanding investment.

Construction typically takes 3-6 months, including site preparation and assembly.
