"It's only right that I write a five-star review for the exceptional masonry and tuckpoint work done on my brick porch by the skilled team at Charlie's Tuckpointing and Bricklaying. Charlie took the time to thoroughly inspect my porch and explain the recommended repairs in detail. From the initial consultation to the final touches, Charlie and his team were professional, prompt, and meticulous. The team's years of experience and high-level craftsmanship are reflected in the miracle work done on my porch. They skillfully repaired and replaced damaged bricks, creating a seamless blend with the existing ones. The tuckpointing work was equally impressive, restoring my porch to its former glory. Charlie even patched up some concrete steps and didn't charge me. Not only was the team's workmanship outstanding, but they took great care to ensure that my property was left clean at the end of each workday. Their attention to detail was evident in every aspect of their work. Charlie's customer service was also outstanding. He was always available to answer any questions and kept me informed throughout the project. Overall, I'm happy with the work done on my porch by Charlie's Tuckpointing. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for masonry and tuckpointing services. They are an honest, hard-working team of skilled professionals dedicated to delivering quality work and exceptional customer service. Charlie is veteran friendly, and his rates are more than reasonable. He and his crew are the people's champs, and I can't praise them highly enough."

"I am writing this review to let other homeowners know that if they are unfortunately in need of foundation repair that the best company capable of handling the job is Advanced foundation repair & replacement. I have a two story home. The entire back and side wall had settled over six inches ( a total distance of seventy five feet). At the side of the house we have a masonry fireplace that had settled significantly as well. Then owner Frank Matyiko hooked up his exclusive unified jacking machine. Frank provided us with a licensed structural engineer that stamped all fazes of construction. He assured me that our house would be a piece of cake. He was right. Advanced leveled the back of my house along with the fireplace with his unified machine. Not a crack in the house. Not a crack in the fireplace. His team was polite courteous and most importantly fixed our problem. Price: $13,500. Thank you Frankie!!!!!"

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Choose permeable paving for driveways and patios to manage stormwater runoff effectively. Request insulated cavity wall systems, which comply with MO energy codes and reduce your heating and cooling demands. Opt for repointing rather than full replacement to preserve the embodied energy of your existing brick. Ask local professionals about sourcing regional clay brick to minimize transportation-related environmental impacts.

Helpful?

Avoid contractors who claim permits are unnecessary for structural masonry work. Quotes must address drainage and waterproofing, especially near local flood zones. Ensure the professional specifies the exact mortar type designed to withstand the freeze-thaw cycles common across MO. Reject out-of-area storm chasers, and demand a written contract outlining permit responsibilities to keep your property compliant and safe.

Helpful?

Freeze-thaw resistance and proper moisture management dictate the lifespan of exterior masonry work. Contractors must match new mortar hardness to your existing brick to prevent spalling. Footings require installation below the local frost line to withstand seasonal clay soil movement. Schedule installations during moderate spring or fall weather in Poplar Bluff to ensure proper mortar curing and long-lasting structural stability.

Helpful?

Inspect your Poplar Bluff property after winter ice storms or spring flooding along the Black River. Watch for stair-step cracking in mortar joints, which indicates clay soil movement. Check for visible white salt deposits on brick walls during humid summer months. Schedule inspections for masonry work in late spring or early fall to avoid extreme temperatures that interfere with mortar curing.

Helpful?

You can safely clear vines and moss from mortar joints to prevent rapid deterioration. Redirect your downspouts and grade soil away from your foundation to manage heavy Poplar Bluff rainfall. Photograph and date structural cracks to track active soil movement. Never attempt DIY repointing or seal flood-saturated brick yourself. Hire a professional for masonry work to prevent severe moisture damage.
