"Mr. Dixon is truly unbelievable. There just aren't words to express how impressed we are by his service, generosity, skills, and knowledge. Evwrything was just so quick and easy. He drastically exceeded our expectations in every way, and we weren't even there to tell him what we wanted. If something wasn't perfect, he spent his own time and money to make it perfect. For example, my husband mentioned that he hates when leaves and debris fall onto his boat, so Mr. Dixon took it upon himself to remove some of the trees causing the issue, making our property look so much better. He didn't even charge us. Also, he finished the project so quickly! He came out to look at the property on Saturday and that Monday our patio was complete. Seriously, every inch of this project is flawless. He didn't leave a single scrap of waste or debris behind. All I can say is WOW. Everybody who has seen our project and heard the price is planning to hire him for their own projects. Hire this gentleman! You deserve the extraordinary value he offers, and he deserves your business! He is officially our go-to guy!"

Patios questions, answered by experts

Building a sunroom is usually less expensive than the cost of building a home addition, but it depends on the type of sunroom. A four-season sunroom will cost more than a home addition because it’s basically a home addition with larger, more expensive windows. All other types of sunrooms will be more affordable than a home addition of an equivalent size because they don’t have insulation, heating, cooling, electrical connections, or plumbing.

Increases living space and adds value to the home through enhanced utility.

In almost all cases, you will need permits if you plan on building a sunroom over your patio, but regulations and requirements will depend on your municipality. Permits to enclose your patio will usually cost between $300 and $1,000. Since navigating local building codes and zoning requirements is challenging—and the consequences of not following them can be extremely expensive—we strongly recommend hiring a sunroom builder to complete the work and pull the permits for you.

A solarium is a luxury addition to a home and can be an excellent breakfast area or reading space, but that doesn't mean there aren't disadvantages. For one, since the room is made of glass it can look dirty very quickly. Another disadvantage is solariums are notoriously hard to balance temperature and will most likely significantly increase your heating and air conditioning bill. Unlike a greenhouse addition to a house, a solarium won’t help you grow as many plants.

Whether it's better to add a sunroom or a regular room to your home depends on your goals. If you need extra bedrooms, building rooms with four standard walls makes more sense than adding a sunroom. If you don't need extra sleeping areas but would like to expand the living space of your home, a sunroom makes sense.
