"This company did outstanding on a job that was out of the norm. They turned and old addition, that was serving no purpose and had sustained extensive fire damage and deterioration, into a small bedroom suite that included a large walkin closet and the ruff in for a 3 piece bathroom. A mud room and laundry closet was also built. Because of the age of the home and the fire damage, several problems arose that could have pushed me out of budget, but they came up with creative solutions that were able to keep me in budget. The were also able to accommodate some requests that would make future remodels less expensive because the infrastructure will already be there. This company is professional and accommodating to all request even the inconvenient ones. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone. I will definitely be using them for future projects."

"Braydon and his employee were wonderful! They were patient with me and didn't mind when my 11 yr old wanted to pitch in. They were very professional, no problems with breaking anything, helped setup the furniture on delivery and the price was very reasonable. Would definable recommend and will use them again if I need to!"

"It has been a pleasure to do business with Ahmed construction. They provide very fair price on bidding. The administrative project manager Mr Albert is a hard working guy. Him along with the Mr Judy did the decking and replaced some studs on an addition remodel project. I highly recommend Ahmed construction and I will hire them again for any future project"

"I didn't know what was wrong with my door and the opener...but Trevor had it figured out right away. Very knowledgeable and was able to explain to me Exactly what was needed in easily understandable terms. It didn't cost anywhere near what I was thinking or what other service companies had been quoting! Very respectful and accomedating...Trevor treated the situation like it was his top priority, and even warranties Countyline's workmanship and labor. We were very pleased and I have already recommended them to friends and family."

Closets questions, answered by experts

Some features and upgrades you can add (some of which increase the closet’s value) are: modular shelving, motion-activated lighting, climate control, custom lighting, cigar humidors, revolving shoe racks, jewelry shelves, custom woodwork, and built-in laundry hampers. While only truly luxury closets have all of these, many custom closets have at least one special feature listed above.

You can design your own closet, but it’s usually better to hire a professional to do the work for you. Not only will you get years of design experience to guide you toward the right layout and material choices, but you’ll also only pay slightly more hiring a professional than you would creating your own plans and hiring a carpenter. A high-quality closet designer can provide insight into how to lay out your closet, and they may be able to find you a good deal on the carpentry or complete the work using an affordable, in-house team.

If you’re on a tight budget, the least expensive material you can buy for DIY closet shelves is chipboard, a.k.a. particle board. This inexpensive material is made from a pulp of sawdust, resin, and glue that’s pressed together under high temperature and pressure. As you can imagine, it’s not very sturdy and might buckle under your blue jean collection, so you should only use it if you’re storing very light items.

When storing your clothes long-term, first consider the container's breathability. While plastic bags, cardboard boxes, or vacuum sealing may be great options for short-term storage, they won’t help your clothes hold up in the long term. Breathable plastic boxes and fabric bags help with airflow, prevent mold or mildew from building up, and allow proper airflow.

On average, building a custom or built-in closet costs around $2,100. However, the total price can range from as little as $500 for a simple DIY project to $6,000 or more for a large, high-end custom closet. Most projects typically fall between $1,500 and $5,000.

The final cost depends on several factors, including the closet's size, type, materials, and features. Here is a general cost breakdown by closet type:

  • Reach-in closet: $500 to $1,500

  • Walk-in closet: $750 to $5,000

  • Wardrobe: $2,000 to $6,000 or more

Choosing a prefabricated closet system is generally less expensive than a fully custom build. The scope of design and construction services will also significantly impact the price.
