"Complete Fencing installed a wooden privacy fence along the back side of our property and 2 gates at each side of the front. It was not a big project but was tricky due to location of buried cables and a steep slope where a gate was installed. The fence looks great and a special shout out to Carlos, the job foreman who did a great job on that gate. Highly recommend."

"Chesterfield Fence and Deck repaired the storm damage to our deck from a year ago. We are extremely happy with everything they did for us. Melissa and Mustafa helped us get started and Suvad did the work. It was unbelievable how professional and courteous he was, and he went the extra mile a few times such as tightening screws that were not flush with the decking to begin with, replacing screws to the posts that were of more proper size, double checking replacement step samples even bringing us samples to make sure we were happy. This guy is amazing, ask for him! Thank you Chesterfield Fence and Deck!"

"We have used Service Star for 5 different projects in our back yard. Nick and his crew are very professional on the job site, listened to all of our wishes for our yard, (especially the fact that we did not want the rest of our yard torn up while these projects were occurring), and did beautiful work on all projects. They were not afraid of doing hard work by hand to avoid wear and tear on the existing yard with heavy machinery. We gave Nick the basic idea of what we saw for our yard, let him do the design work, and we are very happy with his eye for design. The jobs were done in a timely fashion, despite the fact that the weather did not cooperate at all times. After each and every workday, all tools and equipment left on site were neatly placed in one spot leaving a tidy worksite. Upon completion of each job, Nick walked through the yard to make sure we were completely satisfied, which we were each and every time. The clean up after each job was impeccable, leaving us with nothing to tend to afterward. We are so happy with all they have done in our back yard that we have just signed for them to do some work in our front yard! All in all, we highly recommend Service Star for your landscaping needs. - Kevin and Kelly, very happy customers!"

Fencing questions, answered by experts

When deciding to replace or repair your existing fence, consider the 20% rule that fence builders reference. This rule states that if more than 20% of your fence needs repair, you should skip the repair and replace it. Additionally, if your fence is nearing the end of its life, it's often best to replace it.

Repairing the fence is a good option when you have minimal damage or damage from a specific event versus wear and tear. Your fence repair professional can assess the damage and compare the repair price with the cost of a new fence.

The first step in choosing a reputable dog fencing company is to confirm that the professional has experience in your particular area and maintains positive reviews online. You should also check the Better Business Bureau’s (BBB) website to see if they have accrued customer complaints in the past. Additionally, you can ask the following questions to qualify the pro:

  • Do you have experience installing the specific fence material I want?

  • Will you pull permits for the installation?

  • Will you help get a survey done to make sure I build on my property?

  • Do you have a list of referrals?

Customization options include coatings, privacy slats, and incorporating colors or ornamental elements to enhance aesthetic appeal.

The bottom strand should sit between 12 to 15 inches from the ground. If you have a problem with small critters, you can aim for 8 inches. Three-strand fences should be 16 to 19 inches apart, four-strand fences should be 10 to 12 inches apart, and five-strand fences should be 8 and 10 inches apart.

A well-maintained pipe fence can last anywhere from 20 to 50 years, depending on factors like material, climate, and maintenance. Galvanized or coated pipes resist rust and corrosion better than other alternatives, so they tend to last longer, especially in humid or wet environments. Routine maintenance, such as inspecting for damage, removing rust, and applying protective coatings, helps extend the fence’s lifespan significantly.
