"Gentleman who owns Solarize was professional and courteous. He communicated well with the manufacturer and convinced them that a replacement inverter was needed based on the data he saw and the manufacturer had seen. It's what we were hoping for."
"While I was very pleased with the design and installation process, the post-installation service is not responsive. One day after going live, the new Franklin WH battery system that was recommended started causing issues with production. They have been out twice to work on it, but only after multiple contacts and pleading. Currently, I have a $24K battery system I had to power down just to keep the solar system going. Unfortunately, they recommended (and I agreed) to install this cutting edge solution based on faulty manufacturer advice. Supposedly it is compatible with Enphase but in reality it is not, so it is not not their fault. I just wish there was as much energy put into getting the system operational as there seems to be with getting the system installed."

"Tap Heating and Cooling came while I was at work and my wife was home taking care of our newborn. The technician, Jeff, was very polite and very quiet as well (as we had a newborn sleeping) which I found to be amazingly courteous. He performed the cleaning and inspection of our furnace very quickly and efficiently. When Jeff was finished, he let my wife know the the circuit board was mounted improperly, but that he went ahead and took care of it as it was a very simple fix. As well, a filter was included in this service. I had recently replaced our filter (not realizing I was going to take advantage of this awesome Angie's List deal) and he let my wife know that the filter was still good and that he left a new one next to the furnace for next time. We recently moved here, but Tap Heating and Cooling is for sure my go-to in the area from now on as they showed nothing but professionalism, honesty, and courteousness while in my home. Thanks Jeff and Tap Heating and Cooling, I'll see you in summer for my A/C tune up! "
"Hard to imagine a smoother installation. One worker who was incredibly industrious as well as courteous and neat removed the tub and the old shower and installed the new shower, walls, door, etc. skillfully and with very little inconvenience to us! "
"The Tech came out and due to the parts shortage he was not able to replace the front panel so Choice warranty gave me a voucher to replace it. I'm very pleased with their services. All I paid was the service fee."
The time it takes to install solar panels depends on the number of panels and the size of your home, but installation takes between two and three days of work. While most contractors can install the panels over the course of a couple of days, switching to solar energy can take two to three months in total. This includes the time it takes to design the system, procure the parts, obtain the permits, install the panels, connect to the main power grid, and get an inspection.
Rooftop solar panels supply energy to a single household, where a solar farm can power multiple homes at once with clean energy. Residential rooftop solar panels cost more per watt with a lower project total, and those panels only service the residence they are installed on (in most circumstances). With a solar farm, multiple households can buy into the project and share the overall cost.
Insurance companies aren’t against solar panels, but they may have concerns about the risks and costs of insuring solar. The type of policy, where you live, and the insurance company itself matter. Extreme weather can damage solar panels, and faulty installation or electrical malfunctions pose a fire risk—this, in turn, can increase insurance company liability and payouts. However, you’re likely to keep coverage as long as you have a pro install the solar system, keep it maintained, can pass a solar panel inspection, and update your homeowners policy to include solar.
Homeowners replace their solar panels after 25 years. That said, you don’t necessarily need to replace them at the 25-year mark. You’ll notice a declining ability to produce electricity over time. Most homeowners spring for a replacement when they notice their energy bills creeping up to regular levels or when solar panel repairs are extensive, frequent, and no longer economical.
The best way to save money on solar panels is to take advantage of federal and state solar incentives. For example, the solar investment tax credit (ITC) offered by the federal government can save 30% of your total—if you can take the entire credit, which is based on income taxes owed—or an average of around $9,000. You can check the Database of State Incentives for Renewables and Efficiency (DSIRE) for state and local incentives that could save you even more.
