"Tyler did a great job installing the garbage disposal. He was prompt, kept me advised on his time of arrival and the pricing was reasonable. I would highly recommend him for your plumbing repairs and installations."

"He contacted me very promptly and came to look at the project. He explained to me what the problem was and stated he did not have the proper special equipment to make the repair. He recommended a company that he felt sure would be able to do the work."

"

JD and his crew were fantastic! The estimate was competitive with other bidders and we felt the value of their services was very high. We had extensive wood rot damage around most of the windows in our house. JD and his crew were very detailed and careful as they removed the old windows, repaired the wood rot, and installed the new windows. The locations that were leaking before the window installation are leaking no more. Wood Rot Solutions also repaired rot on the exterior of our house, including trim and siding. Everything was caulked well and it was easy for the painters once they arrive. (Note: painting was not part of Wood Rot Solutions scope.) JD and his crew were very professional. They kept the interior of the house clean and even worked around our child's naptimes. We are VERY happy with our new windows.

"Ron Scott, owner of White Dog Painting, came out in late September to see what was needed and prepare an estimate to repair siding, wood rot, and paint my home. While walking around the house, he has some smart ideas on how to prepare the fascia and trim to prevent further wood rot. He provided an estimate. It was complete and White Dog was hired to make repairs and paint the home. White Dog showed up in early October to begin. The crew arrived promptly at 9AM and worked until dark for several days. White Dog repaired and replaced trim, chalked and prepared the surfaces for painting. The crew spray painted and it looked great. There were only two issues that came up during the painting. 1. They used two different brands/colors of siding, and the darker siding appeared to have already been painted another color. Ron Scott assured me both were new siding, but still waiting on receipts showing he made 2 separate purchases of new siding rather than using scraps from another job. 2. The really good ideas Ron had on making adjustments to the trim, fascia were never conveyed to the crew and I had to press the crew myself to get those adjustments made on, literally, the last day of their work. As good as the finished paint job and repairs looked; the unskilled approach to the other details soured the experience. The trim was screwed into the window itself rather than the frame. Of the 11 windows painted, 8 were ‘painted shut’ making them inoperable. The storm windows and door were ‘slapped’ back on, leaving large air gaps between the storm doors/windows and frames. Of the 4 outdoor lights the removed (before painting) then reattached; only two worked. The other two had not been wired correctly. Worst, the home has a steel roof and Ron had assured me his crew knew how to operate on a steel roof. They did not. They left 4 trails of dents and damage across the roof as they painted the dormer. Ron assured me that White Dog was committed to making things right. Two months went by and White Dog never came out to inspect the damage or send their insurance agent. Once I got an estimate for the repairs, I told him the amount and the roofing company to make the check out to. No check. When I insisted he turn it over to his insurance, because he advertises on his website and Angie’s List that he is insured, no response. I complained to the BBB and received an email from Ron that he had given all my information to his insurer and they would contact me. After almost 6 months, still no phone call or resolution from White Dog Painting or contact from an insurance company. I had to have the roof repaired on my own."

"We had quite a mess on our hands.  I had made the mistake of renting some flooring equipment and attempted to sand down and refinish our hardwood floors.  After sanding the floor and applying stain, it was evident this was a collossal failure and should have been left to the professionals.  I had a wife who was up in arms about the state of the floor, and was not sure if I would now need to replace the flooring which would have cost us over $10,000 to do based on estimates.  I had three different flooring providers review the floor and provide an estimate to repair / refinish and each provider took one look at the floor and gave us a look that did not convey confidence that we would be able to repair the floor without a complete new floor.  It was a mess.  Then we met Travis.  He responded to our inquiry within one business day and was prompt to schedule a time to inspect the floor.  When he arrived, he was friendly and courteous, and to me was the only provider that showed the confidence to be able to repair the floor.  He thoroughly explained how it was going to be repaired, and provided us with an extremely competitive and fair bid.  We had his team refinish the floors in our kitchen which are red oak, and had them extend the hardwoods into our dining room (which was carpeted).  This required new wood and Travis brought the wood to our home ahead of the job to let it acclimate to our environment.  His install team showed up on time and had the new hardwood floor in and some boards that needed to be replaced in one day.  The next day, his finish team showed up on time and prepped the area very thoroughly.  We did not have to move anything - they moved the refrigerator and range and masked everything.  They sanded down a section of the floor and then applied some stain and matched it to the color we were looking for.  We arranged to be out of the house while the sanding and finishing was being performed.  Everything was finished within 5 days - and the floors look perfect.  We are so pleased with the result.  It is unbelievable how good the floors look compared to what they started with.
Given we were doing the floors, we also planned to have our cabinets restored.  Our cabinets were initially stained golden oak and were showing their age.  We have three young boys and their toys had really done in the bases of the cabinets.  I thought we would likely have to purchase new cabinets.  We wanted to darken the cabinets and reduce the sheen (they were initially varnished with a glossy finish).  Travis looked at the cabinets and recommended we talk to his painter (Julie Macey) about refinishing the cabinets.  Julie like Travis was very thorough in explaining the process and answered all of my questions about durability of the finish and stain.  She provided a very competitive bid and we elected to go with her.  She was very expedient with her work - and thorough making sure we were 100% satisfied with the finished product.  She worked with us on wall color selection to make sure the floors / cabinets / walls complemented each other.
Overall - a very good experience starting with solid customer service from Travis, quality work and crafstmanship by his teams.  I will use them again when needed and recommend them to anyone looking to get a top quality floor.

Window Shutter Repair questions, answered by experts

Wood is the most classic shutter material. Common options include pine, cedar, or brasswood. MDF shutters are also a more affordable option that retains the timeless, classic look. Composite shutters, mainly vinyl and aluminum shutters, have also become more popular over the years. You may also find steel shutters, sometimes referred to as security shutters, used on the exterior. Shutters also come in various colors and finishes, adding another layer of design flexibility.

Shutters are still very common in Southern, farmhouse, and traditional-style homes, especially those in warm climates who can benefit from the increased efficiency. While modern homes and designs tend to shy away from shutters, shutters are a timeless design style that will likely be around for decades to come.

The average shutter is designed to last 20 to 25 years. Proper maintenance for the type of shutters you have is essential for helping them reach their full potential.

Not all windows are suitable for shutters, as certain styles can prevent them from functioning correctly. It's best to avoid installing shutters on bay windows, picture windows, dormer windows, and double-mulled windows. Shutters are better suited for large, full-size standard windows or French doors.

Additionally, consider the room's lighting needs. Since shutters effectively block light, they are an excellent choice for rooms where you want more darkness and privacy, such as a master bedroom or a main living room. For window types that are not ideal for functional shutters, some homeowners choose to install fixed (non-functional) shutters to maintain a consistent look across the home.

Estate shutters offer more energy efficiency, privacy, and light control than blinds. They provide better insulation against heat and cold, lowering your energy bills. They’re also sturdy, durable, and last much longer than blinds (up to 50 years or longer). They’re also low-maintenance and can add curb appeal to your home. The return on investment (ROI) for estate shutters is around 75%.
