"First time hiring Wilson excavation, overall it was the best experience I’ve had with a sub contractor. He did way more than he needed to and left the job looking a lot better than before even in a big piece of equipment."

"They were prompt, courteous, professional, respectful. Took care of a multitude of home projects -- ie wiring & added outlets, install garage walk in door, fixed leaks on porch roofs, replaced old skirting with new improved skirting, replaced broken bathroom sink with new vanity top, etc etc etc Would not hesitate to call them in again. In fact, I'm making a list of spring projects (spruce up kitchen counters, etc) and will definitely be hiring them if they have the time."

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

You should avoid planting grass, shrubs, plants, and trees in freezing temperatures, as the ground can get frozen and become too hard for proper root growth. It’s best to plant in the fall to allow your plants to establish root systems before the first frost. Landscaping when the average temperature in your area is between 50 and 60 degrees will usually deliver the best results.

Lakefront landscaping offers benefits such as enhancing aesthetic appeal, increasing property value, supporting ecological balance, and providing recreational opportunities while preserving the shoreline's natural beauty.

Pavers are one of the most affordable methods of creating an elevated outdoor space. Gravel is an equally affordable alternative. If your budget permits, you can look into building a permeable driveway to ensure proper drainage. Grid pavers, pervious concrete, brick, and brick pavement are all effective materials. Permeable driveways are great options, especially if you live in an area with heavy rainstorms.

If you don’t like the way your empty drainage ditch looks, reach out to a local landscaping professional to discuss your options. They may be able to liven it up with plants, stones, bushes, or other decorative elements. You can also add your own landscaping, but you should first make sure that it won’t block your ditch or prevent it from operating effectively.

Multiple rules of thumb exist when discussing tree planting. When planting a tree, the best rule of thumb is to provide it with everything it needs to survive and thrive in its new environment. That may mean learning about the type of tree you're planting and studying the best methods of taking care of it before purchasing and planting.
