We are a family-ran business. We do almost everything in the construction field. We are also a well-known roofing company, and we work with insurance companies to handle claims. We also do concrete poured walls, and light commercial work.

"Garrett was absolutely amazing. Quick, responsive, thorough and amazingly easy to work with. Being a female household, some companies tried to take advantage of that. The Taylor boys didn't! They explained everything, and made it extremely easy to work with and understand the process. We will use them again."

Chimney Caps questions, answered by experts

The formula for calculating how many squares of roofing you need is pretty easy. Take the total amount of square footage and divide it by 100. With this formula in mind, a 2,000-square-foot roof would require 20 squares of roofing material to adequately cover it.

If your roof has a vapor barrier, you will need approximately one square foot of roof vent for every 300 square feet of ceiling space. If there is no vapor barrier, the roof should have one square foot of roof vent for every 150 square feet of ceiling space. If you are not comfortable making this determination, a local roofing professional can help.

Shingle roofing can last anywhere from 15 to 50 years, depending on the type and quality of shingle, your local climate, and how well you maintain your roof. If you live in an area that sees extreme weather, like strong winds, hail storms, or hurricanes, the average life span of a shingle roof will often be on the shorter end, especially if you choose a more affordable roof shingle that isn’t designed to persist through extreme weather.

Whether replacing the entire roof or just installing roof shingle replacements in small areas, always pull up the old roof shingles. While you can technically put new roof shingles (but not other roof materials) over old shingles, this can add weight strain to the roof and prevent the new shingles from securing properly to the roof.

Homeowners insurance covers roof repairs due to sudden or accidental damage. This can include roof damage caused by fire, hail, wind, or falling trees. However, it likely won't cover any repairs related to lack of maintenance or regular wear and tear.
