"We got an estimate shortly after the manager came to inspect the driveway, along with helpful advice on what kind of work we needed. Once we agreed to the estimate, the crew came and removed the old driveway in a few days; a few days later they laid the new driveway. In both steps they worked carefully and efficiently. They took care not to damage nearby plantings, and they left everything as clean as it was before they started."

"Buermanns did an awesome job on our 2000 sq ft concrete pour. Concrete was poured smooth as per our request inside of the shed. Work was done on schedule. It’s been 1 year and no cracks. Very happy with the quality of work. Would definitely hire again."

"They did a great job coating a weak area in my driveway near the sidewalk to the front door which should hold up for years to come. Other than a small area near my garage floor seem that didn't get freshly coated, Signature Seal Coating did a much better job than the company I used last time I sealed my drive."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

With proper maintenance, asphalt milling driveways can last 30 years or more. Over time, you’ll need to regularly sealcoat your driveway. You should also have your driveway inspected every few years and make any repairs as soon as they are necessary; this will prolong the lifespan of your driveway.

When hiring an asphalt paving contractor to install your driveway, ask as many questions up front as possible. Here are a few questions to ask a prospective driveway contractor:

  • How many years of experience do you have?

  • Are you licensed, bonded, and insured?

  • Do you have worker’s compensation?

  • Do you use subcontractors on your projects?

  • Do you clean up after the job is done?

  • Who is responsible for any damage to lawn or landscaping?

  • Do you provide a guarantee or warranty on your work?

  • Do you give free estimates?

  • What is the timeline for completion?

  • How do you handle change orders?

  • Can you provide at least three references?

  • Can I see some of the work you’ve done?

The average cost of 1,500 square feet of asphalt ranges from about $10,500 to $22,500, depending on location, thickness, base material, and how accessible the job site is to crews and equipment. Keep in mind that your asphalt material cost may vary depending on its type, ranging from porous asphalt to heated blacktop. Standard asphalt costs $7 to $13 per square foot.

Costs range from $3 to $7 per square foot, depending on the area size and project scope.

The decision to repair or replace your driveway depends on the extent of the damage. If your driveway has a few small cracks, a simple repair will do the trick. If you see larger cracks and potholes, it may be time to consider resurfacing or replacement. Resurfacing is a great option if more than 25% of the surface is damaged, but if the damage is extensive—deep cracks or significant sinking—it’s best to replace the driveway entirely. A new driveway, with proper care, can last decades while patching or resurfacing might only hold up for a few years before needing more attention.
