"This was powerwashing pavers, putting down locking sand and sealing pavers. It was a messy job to do, but they did it and cleaned up all the siding, etc.. The sand abd sealer have all dried and my patio looks wonderful. I am very pleased!"

Customers say: Quick response

"Peak recently did a kitchen remodel for us. We replaced the tile floor with hard wood, updated the island with painted cabinets and reconfigured a few other cabinets. We replaced the countertops, backsplash and the window over the sink. Peak did a great job of coordinating multiple vendors and overseeing a lot of details. The work was done professionally and timely. Ken, our project coordinator, provided frequent updates, was always available when we had questions and followed up on all issues very quickly. We were very pleased with how everything turned out."

"Had our basement finished by Luke in first half of 2018. We hired Luke because he listened to what we wanted and provided a great plan to maximize the available space within our modest budget. He worked at a steady pace with an apprentice to do the majority of the work -- framing, egress window install, drywall, multiple door install, closets, shower surround install, painting and flooring. What he couldn't do legally, he hired competent helpers: plumber, electrician, and HVAC. I would not hesitate to hire Luke. He is a friendly communicator, excellent craftsman and a man of integrity (you can take him at his word)."

"James was amazing! He was in contact with us in scheduling a time to look at our project, we received an estimate by email the next day and let us know a time frame on when he could get the patio poured. He was extremely professional and the sub-contractor he hired to do our job was on-time and worked till late evening just to clean up the job site. I would definitely hire Driftless Craft for our next project!!!"

"It could not have gone better.  Tom Burke is a man of his word.  He is exceptionally knowledgeable about  cast block work and retaining wall construction.  And he is a remarkably good, on-site designer.   Among other welcome design features he suggested is a curved section of the new wall to replace a dog-leg section of the old wall, which markedly improved the aesthetics of the wall.   I would say he and his crew worked like dogs, but I have never seen a dog who was willing to work as hard,  fast and amiably as they did, often putting in 12 hour days.  Tom and Nick, his right-hand man, were meticulous and exacting in their layout, base preparation, alignment and execution.  Andrew, who assisted, tirelessly supplied muscle and supplies to keep the work flowing smoothly.  It was a genuine team effort, the likes of which we have rarely seen.  We had the need for an exact start date, and the whole crew was here on the agreed-upon morning and went to work immediately.  Perhaps the most impressive thing about having them here, beyond the exceptional quality of the finished product, is the way the crew worked together.  They all went about their business very professionally, without commotion, without any shouting and without wasted motion.  Although there were a couple of setbacks because of tree roots, they worked around them, and Tom never suggested a change in price because of the extra work required.  In summary, we were completely satisfied with the price, the execution and the finished product.  We will always use ACT Landscaping for this type of work in the future, and  we recommend that anyone reading this review do the same."

"We had a few projects completed by Joseph. He built our back steps with Trex decking and added a railing. It is exactly what we wanted and he listened to our ideas and made it reality. He also tiled our bathroom shower and backslash. I just love it. He is on time, cleans up behinds himself and is quick to complete quality work! Give Joseph a call for all your home remodeling needs."

"short version: I would use them again. Longer version: I needed a window well installed in the back of the house to make the downstairs room a "code" bedroom, which involved cutting bricks to enlarge the opening. Many Many window companies declined to do that. I managed to get 3 bids. I learned that MN first choise do a LOT of that work, they were flexible, they were local, the price was right and their schedule was open enough to get it done before the ground would totally freeze for the winter. I was VERY happy that I chose a local contractor because they had to come back many times (partly because of two home inspectors visits needed) and if I had chosen a company from the cities, the multiple visits would have been an issue.. The staff was friendly and respectful of our home, the quality of the work was impreccable. They were VERY flexible to match the inside and outside trim and window to match my existing house. Also very flexible to get the right clear cover I wanted. I was very impressed that they dug the hole for the window with a shovel, even though the ground had been frozen for several days.. This is safer to avoid scraping the foundation wall with a mechanical excavator. The only thing is that I would have preferred more accurate scheduling of the time when the work was to be performed and a phone call/text update if they planned to be delayed. Great and honest value with no nickel and diming or hidden charges. I would use them again."

"This is the second time I have used Mitch do work on my home. I was so pleased with him the first time, I had no hesitancy hiring him again. This time he made repairs to the exterior of the house to prepare it for sale--replace rotting garbage door trim, repaint exterior trim, replace several widow panes, power wash side of house and pavers. Everything was done at a reasonable price, on time, quietly and cleanly. I was very pleased. Not only that, but once the job was done, I asked him for a recommendation for someone to paint a bay window inside my house and he offered to do it himself for free, even going and buying a can of paint to match a chip from the window himself! Here is a person who is not only a nice, fair, good person, but who goes above and beyond with customer service. I already told him that if my house doesn't sell and I end up staying here, he will be the first person I call for repairs. HIs name is saved in my contacts, for sure. Of note: he does much more than just decks as you can see above."

Patio Covers questions, answered by experts

Costs range from $1,000 to $5,000, depending on size, material, and design complexity.

There are many ways to mitigate wind damage. Some of the most common methods include installing storm windows and doors and wind-rated garage doors. When you get a wind mitigation inspection, the inspector will also assess the condition and shape of your roof to see how well it will withstand strong winds.

Hurricane fabric is a temporary form of hurricane protection that offers an alternative to boarding up windows or installing traditional storm panels. It is installed over windows, doors, and other openings before a storm. When installed properly, hurricane fabric is tested and proven to protect homes from Category 5 hurricanes, which can have winds over 157 miles per hour. It is intended to block the majority of wind and rain and protect against water, debris, and projectile damage. While the fabric is exceptionally durable, windows can still break if hit directly by high-velocity debris. Compared to other options, hurricane fabric is more protective than hurricane window film. Boarding up windows is more labor-intensive and requires storing heavy plywood, while hurricane screens are permanently attached to your home. To further increase protection, you can take additional steps like securing outdoor items and fortifying your home's foundation.

While the fabric is exceptionally durable, windows can still break if hit directly by flying debris at high velocity. However, it is a good protective measure against an impending storm. For comparison, hurricane fabric is more protective and durable than hurricane window film. While boarding up windows is easier than installing the fabric, it is more labor-intensive and requires storing heavy plywood.

To further increase the chances of your windows surviving a hurricane, you can take additional steps like securing outdoor items, elevating HVAC units, and fortifying your home's foundation.

Awnings offer a variety of materials to choose from, each of which has its own benefits. Cotton is a lower-cost option that’s also more eco-friendly because it’s made from natural materials, while acrylic-coated polyester and vinyl offer better durability against harsh weather. Fiberglass and metal are also resilient to weather, although metal can be vulnerable to corrosion without protective sealant. Ultimately, you’ll need to consider your climate and your budget in deciding the best material for your awning.
