"I left a message asking Allen to come to my house and give me an estimate on regrouting my shower. My call was returned that evening and an appt for an estimate was set up for a couple of days later. Allen arrived within the hour blocked out for the estimate and did give me a call a bit before he arrived to assure me he was on his way. Allen looked at my bathroom and shower. My house was built in the early 40's and he could tell I have the original tile floor which is nice and in good shape but the tile in the shower and on the surrounding bathroom walls had been redone at some point. Over the past several years I had a few tiles chip and crack and had those replaced but was unable to match the original tile color exactly. Allen said that the tile job overall was not done very well and he wanted to give me a few options. I could have him regrout it but in the long run, especially if I ever want to sell my house, all new tile would have to be put in. He doesn't do that kind of work but he took the time to show me where to look online to find a qualified tile contractor. He gave me a couple of ideas of how I could do the job in steps; eg.: just tile the shower first and do something with the rest of the tile walls in the bathroom later. I appreciated his honesty. I will probably see if I can put the $ aside to retile the shower within the next year. Allen did say that my shower's condition doesn't appear to be causing any problems right now. So although I didn't hire Allen to do any work I would have felt confident in hiring him and could tell he cares about having the tile work done right."
