"We are very happy with the work done.  We had two boilers removed, both with asbestos.  The estimate was provided promptly -- orally right on the spot, followed by an estimate in writing via email.  The estimate was lower than other estimates (although still more than I expected), plus they offered a $50. Angie's List coupon. The crew arrived a bit late and there was some lack of communication between the office and the crew, as I had specifically called that morning with directions on where to park their large truck and the crew did not get the message and drove around trying to figure out what to do.  Once I saw this, I went outside and directed them.  They soon got to work and completed the removal as scheduled.  They put out drop clothes and tarps, all the way from the basement out the back door and seemed concerned with not leaving a mess, however, they left behind three soiled floor mats that had been under their tarp, but still managed to get a black soot-like substances on them.  When I called Nancy in the office to tell her about the rug damage, she could not have been nicer about paying for their replacements.  I bought replacement rugs and sent her the receipts, which she deducted from the total cost."

"Had Greene Construction install egress window in basement. Estimator was very knowledgeable and took the time to explain every option and detail. Installers were professional. They answered all my questions and made some alterations to where the extra dirt was put and provided extra tarps to cover the dirt in case of rain. I would definitely recommend and hire them again."

Chimney Liner Installation questions, answered by experts

How long a pool liner lasts depends on the type of pool. Most in-ground pool liners last between six and 12 years, while aboveground pool liners last anywhere from six to 10 years. You can extend the life of your pool liner by maintaining proper pool chemistry, adding chemicals individually to avoid staining the liner, using a pool cover to protect it from the sun, and keeping sharp objects away from it.

You don’t need to drain the whole pool to patch a pool liner, but be prepared to dive in with your swimsuit and goggles to patch a leak below the water level. By draining the pool, you can actually expose the liner to more harsh conditions, like wind and sunlight, that cause the tears to worsen. It’s best to use the ink test and waterproof patches or tape to identify the leak and patch it up.

Pool leaks most commonly occur at joints or where different materials meet. The most frequent leak spots include:

  • The Pool Skimmer: Where the plastic skimmer meets the pool's liner or shell.

  • The Pool Liner: Tears can develop in vinyl liners, especially those between 5 and 20 years old. Leaks also occur around the liner's edge.

  • Fittings and Accessories: Areas around return lines, the main drain, and pool lights are common culprits.

  • Pool Equipment: The pump, filter, and filter housing can also leak.

While leaks in underground pipes are less common, they can be costly to fix. It's usually best to check the more common spots before investigating the plumbing system.

On average, a pool liner replacement project takes one to four days from start to finish. However, a few factors, like your pool design and total square footage, can affect the time it takes. Also, the installation can take longer if unexpected weather conditions cause a pro to pause the job.

Typically 1-3 days, depending on pool size and complexity.
