"I honestly can’t say enough good things about this company. I saw their information on the local neighborhood website and contacted. They were there in three days to do the estimate and were there doing the job in a week. It was sweltering heat and bad smoke from the Canadian wildfires but they were out there working and doing a great job. So happy I found them and will definitely use them again the next time I have a project."

"Mitch is very personable, he is vert responsive. He does a great job at explaining all of the options and gives recommendations as to what is the best solution. He is very honest, he does exactly what he says he will do. His cost matches his estimates, no surprise charges. His crew did a great job keeping things cleaned up, and they were very respectful of our property. I would work with Mitch again without any hesitation."

"They called to say they were running late but still arrived within 15 minutes of the original schedule.  A few pleasantries were exchanged  & then I showed them the problems & they got right to work. Kept us updated as far as turning the water off & such.
We initially thought that the kitchen faucet was a repair job but when it was discovered that it needed to be replaced they gave us several options for proceeding. Time was they were completely done & cleaned up within 4 hours.  We've used Marshall Handyman previously & we were as satisfied as ever.

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

A random orbital sander is best for sanding a deck because it is easier to handle than other power sanders and is less likely to damage the wood. Most decks are made of types of softwood, so a gentler sanding process is essential to prevent permanent blemishes. For example, belt sanders can gouge softwoods.

Deck skirting shouldn’t touch the ground, especially if you have a wood deck, which is vulnerable to moisture. Ideally, you should leave at least 3/4 of an inch of space between the deck skirting and the ground for more ventilation. Pros also recommend that you incorporate about 1 square foot of space for ventilation for the underside of the deck to every 150 square feet of decking. Proper ventilation prevents mold growth and rot that can damage your deck.

That depends on the condition of your deck. An older deck that looks drab, worn, or has multiple damaged boards might be worth replacing before selling. However, if your deck is in good condition, you can simply clean, repaint, or stain it.

While experienced DIYers may take on the challenge, hiring a licensed professional is often the best route, especially for larger or elevated structures. A local deck contractor is typically the best pro for the job, as they have specialized experience and are knowledgeable about local building codes, ensuring your deck is built safely and designed to last. Other professionals who can build a deck include general contractors and carpenters, who may be more readily available in some regions.

You can add a roof to most decks, but you need to have it inspected first. If your deck didn’t come with a roof initially, it may not be able to handle the weight without some structural changes. You can add additional supports to your existing deck to safely add a roof, and tying your deck’s roof to an exterior wall can help add some structural stability, but remember these aren’t DIY projects and need to be left to a pro.
