The roof leaked and they did'n't stand behind their guarantee for their warranty. I will not recommend this company to anyone. Especially when you give me a 5 year warranty and it's no good

We assisted and prevailed in a roof claim. There was a leak. We were there, in the rain, to repair it immediately. The interior damage was taken care of by a subsequent insurance claim. There was no communication afterwards. if there were additional problems, they were unknown to us. He got an extended five year warranty at no extra charge, the warranty remains in place. He received a senior citizen discount of $348. He refused a dumpster in his driveway, so we used a rubber tired trailer at no additional cost to him. The file on his project shows a net loss of $626.

Roofer with materials had a problem on way to job, which delayed the work. The metalwork was all horrible. It has all rusted and is dented. The roof overhang is not sufficient and some of the roof singles are buckled. So the quality of the roofing is better, but definitely not great. The warranty of 1 year or two years expired before many of these problems became apparent.

After a large hail storm hit the SW metro in August of 2013, we were barraged by contractors looking for business. We finally chose Cardinal because they assured us of the expertise in handling the insurance part of it. When the insurance company paid for only a partial replacement, Cardinal assured us again they would guide us through the process. Come spring of 2014, they were no where to be found because their adjusters moved to another area. That was one of the reason I chose them over some of the out of town companies. The told us they could no longer help us because they didn't have the right staff. We lost many valuable months because of them. I can not recommend a company that doesn't follow through with their commitments like this.

This person's neighbors got roof replacement from a hail storm , so he wanted his roof replaced, too. His roof claim was denied by the insurance company after repeated inspections. He wanted us to "save the day" for him some how. We never tell an insurance company that there is damage where there is no damage. For him to give an F to Cardinal Exteriors, is unfair and dishonest. He is a disgusting person to damage our reputation this way.

They did a good job on some areas and screwed up on others. It's not someone I would hire back. They removed the weather stripping on one of the windows and forgot to replace it and one of the windows leaked. The remaining windows they did were fine, it's just the one that they did remove the seal then replaced it and then it leaked and did damage inside of my house.

It went perfectly and much more smoothly than I anticipated. Jim was an excellent communicator and often initiated the calls but was swiftly responsive when I called him. His crew was competent, pleasant and able to explain what they were doing any time I asked. Clean-up was thorough with just a couple roofing nails left behind as proof that they were there. Plants were covered and were not damaged in the process. I am a happy homeowner with a good-looking roof that will outlast me!

I originally purchased 2 "coupons" of time from Angie's List totaling 8 hours of labor. The scheduling of the original appointment in June was done incorrectly by Cardinal Exteriors. I took the day off from work expecting everything to be completed in 1 day, and in fact they had only scheduled half of the time. It took repeated phone calls and emails, as well as repeated re-discovery on the part of Cardinal Exteriors that I had purchased 8 hours of time, to get the final time scheduled in October. The workers kept the original supplies purchased, and needed to bring them back with them for the final visit. They brought only the sealer and could not locate the stain. I was charged for far more supplies than were actually purchased, and the supplies were not itemized. After repeated complaints, this was corrected. Cardinal Exteriors noted in a letter sent later (after the second visit) that I should not have been able to purchase 2 coupons – this is the FIRST time this was mentioned in the entire process. In the second invoice, the validity of the second coupon was not recognized, and I was charged for the second period of work at regular rates with some wording about an “1.5 h overage of labor”. I thank Angie’s List for refunding the second coupon so that the total cost was in line with what was originally expected.

The experience went very well. They did a good job at that. They found a window that had some rotten places and it needed to be replaced. They did tell me that they would get back to me with an estimate about replacing that window. But I never heard from them again and I haven't call back. They came when they said they would and they were very easy to deal with. They were pleasant and did their job. I think it would have been good for them to get back to me on what they promised, but that wasn't something that I wanted to do right this minute, so that is OK. It was a very good deal. I had them do the work and they did as much as they could in the time that was allotted. For $99 it was a really good bargain. The quality of service was excellent. They were flexible and right on time.

I used an Angie's List Big Deal special offer for this service. They were very good but the ribbing on the screen on one of the doors was not tight enough so the screen came off. I called them about this so they came out and replaced the ribbing with heavier material and I have had no further problems. They were easy to get hold of, were very responsive and did a good job.

I called to make the appointment and Terry scheduled a time with me and said that if the weather wasn't cooperative he would still send the guys by to check out the project and determine what materials would be needed to complete the job. The weather was rainy that day so the guys came and measured and scoped out the project and left after about 15 min. I waited to hear back from Terry but when I didn't after several days, I called to get something scheduled. He advised me that the best fix was going to be to wrap the window in aluminum and I agreed that sounded like a good fix. He said that the additional charge for materials would be $120 and that he was taking a half hour off the 4 hour deal to account for the guys coming out to scope the project. I was fine with being charged for materials as that was part of the deal but I didn't agree with a half hour being subtracted from my time as that was never brought up to begin with but nonetheless we agreed on the terms and he said that he would figure out the schedule and get back to me. When I didn't hear from him after a week, I called again and he again said he would get back to me. He emailed me that afternoon and the job was completed the next day. Randy did an excellent job, was friendly and cleaned up everything nicely before leaving. Overall, I am pleased with the work that was completed and think that my window looks great! The customer service could have been improved a bit but everything came together in the end.
Description of Work
I had two side by windows that the exterior woodwork was beginning to rot and deteriorate. I purchased this deal as it said it would be able to be used to take care of this problem. It was recommended to me that the easiest and cheapest fix would be to wrap the window frame in an aluminum siding type material. The window looks great and I think it will keep the window from deteriorating further for quite some time.

We had a hard time scheduling because of the cold and rainy weather this spring. But we kept communicating and finally got the job done in time for decent weather. We purchased a "deal" for 4 hours of work. That meant 2 people came here to do the work for 2 hours. I doubted that all the windows would get done so chose some as priorities. But they got all the windows done except for a few we didn't want done. The overall experience with these workers was excellent. My only concern is that we asked for some follow up for other possible work and haven't heard from the company yet (it's been about 2 weeks).

Do you want to have a useless window (wrong size) sitting in your garage, fully paid by you? Do you want to have a hole cut into your exterior wall, only to be patched up until you get another window? At this point I guess you have to ditch the installer, but do you want to frustrate your new installer because the opening that was cut had to be modified before the right sized window can go in? If you can bear with such a series of frustrations, project delays, and increasing costs, go with Cardinal Exteriors. After you read the full review you'll see how installing a window turned a nightmare. I started planning on a master bathroom remodel in 2012, and wanted to add a window where none exists. After getting a few estimates, I went with Cardinal Exteriors based on their rating on Angie's list, experience, and price. Their quote was not the lowest, but was just slightly higher than another company who does more general work. I thought it would be better to go with a "specialist" in windows and doors. Was I wrong! In Feb. 2013 I signed a contract with them and paid $960 down. I confirmed with Terry the owner that the new window will be the same size as the one in the bedroom next to the bathroom. This was one important requirement for the new window because I wanted a symmetrical look, and the new window will be right next to the bedroom window on the exterior. I also wanted the window to match the existing windows in style, material, and color. Terry told me that the window would take 4 weeks to come in. At that time we were waiting for the window to be installed before the bathroom crew could plan around it, and 4 weeks seemed a long wait. So I explored if Lowes had the same window. Lowes could have it in 2-3 weeks, and had a better return policy. But Terry insisted to order from his Pella rep. I agreed (mistake again). The window actually took 5 weeks to be delivered. After I received a delivery notice (2 weeks before delivery), I asked Terry if he could install the window right after delivery. He said yes. The week before installation I tried to confirm the installation date again. Terry was not very responsive then, and finally on the Thursday before the promised date he told me "the permit is not approved yet". Since the installation was scheduled for the following Wednesday, he told me there was still chance we could be on time. The following Monday I asked Terry if he got the permit. No. I called the city and was told that the permit was not pulled until the Friday before. Terry then blamed the city for losing his permit application submitted 4 weeks ago. Well, there was no way for me to find out whether the city lost the application, or Terry failed to submit the application. However, wasn't there 4 weeks already? Even the city may take up to15 days to approve the permit, shouldn't Terry check with them after 15 days? And when I asked for the installation date, which would be 3 weeks after the permit was supposed to be pulled, shouldn't Terry check on that again? THE PERMIT WAS SCREWED UP and caused 1 week delay in window installation itself, during which I had to deal with the bathroom crew and electrician to reschedule everything. And whenever rescheduling happens, there are further delays. The worst had not come yet. It was not until two workers came to install the window did I find out the WINDOW SIZE WAS INCORRECT. The two workers actually were not too sure whether the size of the new window was the same as the existing one for a while, but finally confirmed that the new window did not match the bedroom window height. I was shocked and called Terry immediately. Terry told me "it was not the same size because if it were the same size, it would be too close to the tub and violate code." I responded that he never told me this before, and asked what was the minimum distance between the tub and the window. Terry didn't know the answer. Actually, he never asked me how tall my tub was, so it was impossible that he could determine whether my window would be too close to the tub. Even if he considered common tub height, he should have discussed with me about changing the window height before ordering. It turned out that code does not require a minimum distance between a tub and a window (confirmed by city inspector). TERRY MADE IT UP AS AN EXCUSE, WHICH IS PURELY DISHONEST. Terry then went on, "The window that was ordered is a standard sized window. If we order a window the same size as the bedroom window, it would be a custom sized window and could cost hundreds more, and you won't be willing to spend that much". Such information was never provided to me till then. In fact, before signing the contract Terry told me "luckily" my existing bedroom window was of Pella's standard size (which proved to be wrong), so we could order a standard size window. Based on that, I had reason to believe that Terry got the measurement wrong from the beginning. At that time the workers already removed the siding and cut a hole in the sheeting underneath. Terry insisted that I should have the wrong window (3" shorter than supposed to be) installed. He kept saying my requirement for the window size to match the existing window exactly was "unreasonable". I thought I'd be unreasonable to ask for less than 1/2" difference, but 3"? Terry said Pella Windows, where he ordered the window from, would not take returns and exchanges. Well, if only I ordered from Lowes myself, at least they could do an exchange. Terry did not want to be responsible for the wrong window he measured and ordered, and the window is sitting in my garage, taking up valuable space. Together with it a few WOOD TRIMS IN THE WRONG STYLE which they brought. Can you expect more mistakes? There are. The new installer measured the window according to my requirements, and found that the window opening Cardinal Exteriors cut for me was not accurate, and they had to make modifications for the window to fit in. In addition, the JAMB SIZE OF THE WINDOW TERRY ORDERED WAS OFF BY 1", which means even if I agreed to have this window put in, it would stick out either on the exterior or the interior wall. That was the last straw. Basically, I paid $940 plus $130 permit fee to Cardinal Exteriors to have a useless window sitting in my garage, a hole in my house, and delays after delays in my bathroom remodel (luckily that part is NOT done by Cardinal Exteriors). New fee is required to pull a permit by the new installer. To me Cardinal Exteriors is UNPROFESSIONAL, INCOMPETENT, AND DISHONEST. I filed a complaint with Better Business Bureau, and thought I should share my experience with other Angie's list members as well.
Description of Work
Ordered a window with the wrong height and jamb extension because they took the wrong measurement. Refused to take back the wrong window and tried to coerce me to install the wrong window. In addition, the opening they cut into the siding was of the wrong size, making it difficult to fit the right window. They also failed to obtain permit timely, and failed to inform me about it, causing delays in the whole bathroom remodel project.

Went well. Because one of the exterior doors is steel, nothing could be done on it. (I had anticipated thedoor would need to be removed, the bottom of the door would need to be cut and the door re-installed.) Therefore the four hours was not used in its entirety Only negative is that they promised an estimate on a new exterior door, crediting me the unused hours from the Big Deal purchase, but I've yet to receive the estimate..
