My furnace stopped working December 25th, 2024, no heat till today! Keep in mind, the last technician I hired in January 2025, charged me 240 dollars for 20 minutes analysis just to tell me I need new furnace and AC central, my AC works beautifully. Then I used 4 space heaters to keep my house warm! Man my electric bill was over 400 dollars the first month and climbing higher each coming months till Spring arrived!
I hired B & D Plumbing and Heater Co. to come out and finish the job. It was a gentleman name Dan, he did an extremely awesome job, telling me the details, explaining everything I needed to knowledge. And now the furnace works about as good as it gets beautifully. The impressive part, he took his sweet time. And the most impressive part was when he presented my total bill! I was about to have a major heart attack when I saw the bill! "Shane, the plumber, cleared the drain clog. He was friendly, on time, knowledgeable, and answered all my questions. Shane estimated it would take an hour and it took only about half an hour. I was then charged a ridiculous $830. I feel I was way overcharged and am not happy with this. I do not recommend Dean's Home Services."

"Finken called to sell RO filters for RO system previously installed. They took payment over the phone and stated the filters were paid in full and drop off of the filters would occur. After drop off, invoices were sent requesting additional payment. When calling to discuss the issue, representatives give excuses as to why the original payment 'didn't go through'. They state there is a training issue, and conveniently the person who processes the invoices is never available. They state they take the credit card information at the time of original phone call and store it in their vault. I've requested they delete my information and stop calling me as I've already paid as they required before delivery. I will look into purchasing these replacements elsewhere as the business practices are questionable and customer service is poor. "

There are three main types of heat pumps. An air-source heat pump system is the most common and has two parts—an indoor air handler unit and an outdoor heat pump unit. A ductless heat pump system functions similarly to an air-source heat pump system but doesn’t need ductwork to distribute the air. A geothermal heat pump system pulls heat from the ground to help heat your home.
If a geothermal heat pump is installed correctly, then you shouldn’t have to worry about having a backup heat source such as a furnace or oil boiler. However, there are geothermal systems installed that include a backup in case the heat pump fails due to extreme cold. This is simply a backup heat pump you’ll likely never need and not an alternative heat source.
You need to service an HVAC system about twice per year, with a service including an inspection and basic maintenance. It’s best to schedule maintenance in the spring (after the furnace has been running and before the AC kicks on) and in the fall (after the AC worked hard all summer and before winter’s first chill arrives).
