"Leon, Shana, and Leon’s brother removed popcorn from the ceilings in several rooms and hallways and painted several rooms. They did an excellent job and the rooms looked great when they finished. I am hiring them to paint and remove popcorn from ceiling in two remaining rooms. They are very pleasant, hard-working, reasonably priced, and trustworthy. One couldn’t ask for more. I highly recommend them."

"Tom first of all pressure-washed my home's entire exterior, then he recommended a special sealant to use before the paint job on the shake siding of my house - it worked great - all the paint work was excellent and the job was done quickly and professionally - He also did a large interior room and I noticed that he used brand-new equipment to do the job, which also turned out excellent - Tom is a good resource to know about for painting"

"There's a lot of reasons why we keep inviting Chris back to our home. 1. He consistently does outstanding quality work. He always tries to do a job the right way, with attention to details and he's really good at what he does. 2. He is extremely conscientious and dependable. 3. He communicates very well and always does what he says he will do even if it means spending more time on a job than he had originally planned or scheduled. 4. He is very polite, honest and respectful. 5. He's a really hard worker, and 6. He seems motivated not by how much money he can make on a job but rather how much he can help other people by doing a really good job for a really fair price. I've been an active member of Angie's List for over 10 years and we've used lots and lots of contractors over this same time. Chris ranks at the top in terms of what I think we are all looking for when we pay our Angie's List dues each year!!

Wallpaper Removal questions, answered by experts

In most cases, it is not recommended to wallpaper over existing wallpaper, as the success depends on the type of paper already on the wall. While you might be able to cover non-coated wallpaper, you should never apply new wallpaper over a vinyl-coated one, which is more common. Doing so can lead to poor adhesion, resulting in bubbles, imperfections, and peeling. It can also trap moisture, potentially causing hazardous mold growth between the layers.

Even if the existing wallpaper is suitable, experts recommend applying only one new layer. Adding multiple layers (more than two total) can cause significant adhesion problems, leading to warping and bubbling. For the best results, the recommended approach is to remove the old wallpaper and all paste residue before hanging the new paper. If you are unsure about your wallpaper type, consider consulting a professional.

Because poison ivy and similar plants can cause potentially life-threatening allergic reactions depending on your sensitivity, it's best to hire a professional to remove it. Hiring a local lawn care service or other professional also increases your chances of successful eradication so that you don't have to deal with the issue again several months down the road.

Wallpaper lasts an average of around 15 years, but there is some variance. The type of wallpaper matters, as vinyl wallpaper tends to last the longest—sometimes 20 years or more—while a peel-and-stick wallpaper, which is the easiest to install for DIYers, will usually only last for around five years. Exposure to high humidity, smoke, and UV rays from sunlight can also limit the lifespan of your wallpaper, as can heavy traffic in the installation area.

The average cost to remove wallpaper is $790. The final price tag depends on the size of the room and the complexity of the project, and can range from $200 to $2,000. Usually, removing peel-and-stick wallpaper is on the lower end of the cost scale, as it doesn't require special tools to remove.

Removing wallpaper can be easy if you have a non-coated wallpaper, but most homeowners have vinyl-coated wallpaper, which is more durable but tears very easily during the removal process. This feature makes it challenging and time-consuming to remove most wallpaper. There are tools to speed up the process, like steamers, but, unfortunately, it’s easy to permanently damage your walls when using them. In most cases, it’s best to hire a professional wallpaper remover to get the job done quickly and without damaging your home.
