Yes, it’s okay to use a pressure washer to clear and clean your gutters. Be careful to avoid the outside of the gutters, as getting too close with the powerwasher can peel away the paint. Also, be careful to avoid causing any damage to seams that may be in the corners or along the length of the gutter.

You shouldn’t use a pressure washer on utility meters, generators, AC units, breaker boxes, or anything that contains electrical components. Don’t use a pressure washer on living things, either, including people, pets, and plants. Lead paint, asphalt shingles, stained wood, and painted items are also no-gos when it comes to pressure washing.

You can put a gentle cleaner such as distilled white vinegar, dish soap, or a degreaser in your pressure washer in a detergent injector. The attachment will mix your detergent with the water and spray it out. If you have stubborn stains on your driveway, a gentle cleaner in the attachment can help dissolve and remove those stains. Rinse the area with the pressure washer.

It takes about 15 minutes per each side of an exterior house to apply detergent and 15 minutes to remove it, so you’ll need roughly two hours for the whole job. However, that length of time may decrease or increase depending on the size of your home, so always budget a little more than expected to ensure you don’t end up rushing to get it done.
