Ivan assessed the insulation, showed me the issue with lack of insulation (there was only 3 inches) and the building standards, gave me a fair price on insulating, and a week later he has insulated this section of our home. I also could not believe this was not caught when we bought our home and again had insulation checked by a company last year after paying $3000 in ice dam removal. "Colin built and stained a custom designed 10x12 pergola as part of our backyard landscaping. The pergola has trim on the bottom and top, and custom lattice on one and a half sides.  We wanted the pergola to run part of the way along the house side to cover the water meter but still give access to the meter if needed by the meter reader, and Colin ingeniously determined that the side could be hinged and have hidden latches, allowing it to swing open if needed.
He was open to our ideas for the design, and added suggested options for how to proceed. He checked in with us as the work proceeded to double check the spacing of the top pieces of wood, the height of the top, the stain color, etc, which was really helpful to achieving the end result we had envisioned. 
He was punctual, polite, friendly, cleaned up each day, and his workmanship is excellent.
