"Iâ ve had the pleasure of meeting Jon last summer. He installed a new garbage disposal for me. Sent me specifications from Home Depot Before I purchased making it seamless. I was looking for a motion detector ceiling light for garage entrance. Jon recommended an occupancy light switch which he installed. The spring he disassembled 5 closet Systems. Mudded. Primed. He has helped me with three emergencies water tank unable to be lit/toilet situation/explosion of water under kitchen sink from dishwasher. He is attentive to detail. Affordable. A good listener. Polite. Flexible with time. Neat. Leaves Work space nice and neat. He is great with technology. Jon connected ring doorbell to Wi-Fi. Installed smart plugs and set them to Wi-Fi. Connected lift master garage door opener to Wi-Fi which had become disconnected. Jon is my go to person now. If he canâ t do it he will recommend someone who can."

"Tristin Clark was superb! He fixed a door lock that had been worked on by at least 8 work folks over the past 6 years. He was the first to realize the whole lock mechanism was upside down. Once he fixed it we were astonished to discover how easy it was to lock that door."

Childproofing questions, answered by experts

Many parents, especially first-time parents, agree that professional childproofing is worth it. These professional childproofing services are trained to recognize dangerous home situations that many people would overlook until it's too late. Furthermore, professional childproofing experts have access to top-of-the-line equipment you can't purchase at most stores, providing longevity and peace of mind.

In many cases, you can DIY home childproofing with success. You can purchase childproofing tools like cabinet locks, outlet covers, and table-edge guards and install them easily.

However, it's best to have a professional childproofing service work on larger projects like pool safety or furniture anchoring. These safety measures can take a lot of time and effort to DIY, plus, you want to ensure the tasks are done correctly to keep your child safe.

Yes, tamper-resistant outlets are a safe and effective way to protect children from electrical hazards. They feature a spring-loaded shutter that blocks the outlet slots when not in use, preventing a child from inserting foreign objects. While they are the safest option available, it's important to note that few things can be considered truly 'childproof.' Children may still try to imitate adults by inserting a plug, so constant supervision around any electrical device is recommended. Tamper-resistant outlets are a much safer solution than childproofing covers, which can be removed by children and may pose a choking hazard.

A professional childproofer will first survey your home to identify potentially dangerous locations, including stairs, cabinets, and pools. Once approved, your professional will order and install the safety equipment for you.

Some ways a childproofing professional will make your home safe include:

  • Anchoring large furniture

  • Installing safety gates

  • Installing safety latches on cabinets and drawers

  • Covering railings that could trap a child

  • Covering electrical outlets

  • Installing a swimming pool fence

  • Removing or covering electrical cords where possible

The average cost of childproofing services is $410. This cost can range from $190 to $630 or more, depending on the size of your home and what services you need.

The location of the childproofing additions also plays a vital role in the overall cost. For example, a bathroom is relatively small and costs about $150 to fully childproof. However, if you have a swimming pool, you could spend as much as $1,500 to $10,000 to make it entirely safe for small children, including adding a pool fence.
